Blairweech - how did you get the vouchers? I'd be intersted to hear about that :)

Hi SF  I found them listed on the voucher thread linked to earlier - the philly one was £1 off, and on offer in Mr T for £1 so it was free, and the stir fry shot was free if you like the blue drag0n FB page. The orange juice voucher was a game played on the Inn0cent FB page..'shake the tree' or something. The voucher thread is an amazing place if you have time to check it out :)

Bought 'the takeaway' secret...£1.99 in The W0rks :j Definitely one of my fave stores! Am so keen to try the recipes I have offered to make dinner on Thursday when Mum has to go in hospital.

I also bought a jumper from Monsoon...it was reduced though, and I resisted other things in there! Have until Jan 22nd to take it back if needed but I dont think that will happen as I do love it.

Any ideas what I can get an 8 month old for Xmas..I literally have no idea what kids are (not) allowed and at what age they start walking, chewing things, reading etc. Was going to get a noisy book, with different animal sounds or something?

Cherryjack - glad it was good :D
Blairweech - love the jumper ;) and I'll have to pop over to the voucher thread sometime and have a browse :) Maybe a book with some "feely" bits in - like animals with soft hair, rough hair, etc :)

Only other frugal tip to add is that whilst dismantling a jiffy bag that had been reused beyond original purpose with the intention of recycling the paper I realised that actually once split each side could be used again for cushioning delicate items with in another parcel.

Great tip, thanks Aril. The trifle sounds gorgeous too.
Dizzy yes it is a Lido - I haven't progressed to swimming in the ponds yet but hope to get acclimatised next year.

I love the old photos of the lidos Ruby from way back when. Everyone always seems to look really happy.

Blair, lovely jumper I love Monsoon!
An 8 month old may well be crawling and trying to eat everything they're not meant too!!
Maybe bath toys, feely book, anything noisy that they can press, lamaze do lovely toys? Or failing that the parents may well appreciate clothes for them, buy a bigger size if u do, it's a nightmare at xmas when they get things that only fit them for a few weeks!! (not that I'm ungrateful or anything!)

Well I have done nearly all the wrapping now.

I had no idea just how many rolls were stored on top of the wardrobe!

They were covered in dust from when I did the sanding though but it soon shook off (all over the floor!)

I am very pleased I have managed to avoid the supermarket for two days now!

I bought some wonderful veg from the weekly cooperative stall on the way back from the Docs - I always forget to use it usually!

Arrrhhhh!!!! Hubbie just asked me to have a look at our bank balance and we were in our overdraft for 4 days (been paid now) Hubbie starts moaning about it saying I should keep a better eye, yes I prob should but it's the most expensive month of the year with xmas, car tax, mot etc, etc!! And I have been busy sorting christmas, children, all his families presents etc.
I suggested he take over the finanaces and see if he could do a better job!!!! He didn't have an answer for that!
    Rant over, sorry!

Another day out of the supermarket!

Feeling really pleased with myself - egg and chips for tea and the chips were free from a newspaper voucher my neighbour gave me.

  • Hiya Ruby. Hope you're ok today and feeling less tired.
I've still got a bit to do but going into town with hubby tomorrow as we've both finished work now till after New Year, so we'll get our last presents and he can carry them :D
Going to enjoy the lie ins to be honest.
Looking forward to starting the New Year with my frugal head on and the older I get the more determined I am to keep hold of my hard earned money!
