Hello fellow frugallers:j
Mixed news here at GBT- got down to the last 2 for a job but got pipped at the post. Darn!! I shouldn't complain I've applied for 6 jobs and have been offered 3 interviews so it's all good practice and the feedback has been very positive. Have got another one on Friday...at least it means I won't be in the shops spending:rotfl::rotfl:
Took a break with a stroll into town...hate to mention the word but invested a few pennies in a couple of Christmas presents- my local £land currently has Merlin [the film not the TV series] so a copy has gone in my gift box and I found a very unusual necklace for £3.25 for another present in the CS. Result:j Oh yes and I was asked to answer some market survey questions and was given a £5 voucher for my troubles:D I can spend it in Homebase so it can go towards our bathroom refit we're planning.
I've been teaching my Mum the joys of slow cooking. Due to a change in her circumstances she's having to cook the main meal in the early evening which she loathes doing...when I explained to her how she could get a casserole going and then leave it she was much chirpier.
If anyone wants a cheer up today this might do the trick

Oh my, that brought a tear to my eye Aril. Lovely pictures but then couldn't stop thinking of Mummy squirrel looking for her babies
Little sweeties.
Definately feels like we could all do with one of Sandras dodgy hugs :rotfl:
Have just finished making a leaving to have a baby card, and another card for someone who's been off work a couple of weeks. Taken me about 2 hours though!
Love and kitty cat and dog wishes for all of you with poorly animals at the moment...Ruby, Tumpty and PaidinChicks, not forgetting Sandras dog too.
My daughter with fur, 'our dog,' seems to have a bit of a squiffy tummy, she's rarely poorly, touch wood, and is lying very quiet on the sofa, just looking at me with her big softy eyes.
Aril being pipped at the post this time must mean you're within a hens tooth of securing a job, good luck with the other interviews.
natnat, my job is teaching assistant which I absolutely love. I did my NNEB Diploma and have been at the same school for 15 years. Lots of variety too. I teach in year 1, when the teacher has her ppa time, which is were I'm mainly based and I also teach interventions to groups of children in year 6 every afternoon. Also 4 of us are training in P4C philosophy for children with Will Ord, very lucky to be doing this. Anyway I'm rambling now but if you've got any questions natnat please feel free to pm me
Hope we're all still on course for Sandras September month challengeCan you believe we're almost in October!
Warm hugz to all for these cold days

NSD yesterday but today I have to go to Mr T's.
Cat is doing ok in a sort of incontinent way but I asked her to pop off in her sleep before she deterorates much more - she didn't listen to me.
Has anyone put the heating on yet?0 -

Thanks Dizzie, I have put the application in and the closing date is tomorrow. I hope I at least get an interview but it depends who else applies as I have no formal qualifications, but I did say in my application that I'm quite happy to do any study / training required.
Our heating isn't on yet because we still have no oil! DH said only this morning, do you think we shoudl buy some now?! I must say though, it's a bit chilly in the evenings so the blankets have come out but apart from that I haven't been cold yet.Mum to 2 DSs, dog mum, wife full-time worker.

I think we can make allowances for new babies :-)
OT but I just got a leaflet about self esteem through from the NHS mental health service, it's photocopied upside down and back to front, almost impossible to read and it occured to me that it would be better for my self esteem if they had bothered with it a bit more - it makes me feel pretty worthless!
Am I just being picky? (tell me straight, I can take it)0 -
Hello everyone
I've managed to have a couple of no spend or low spend days lately.
Sorry to hear about your cats Tumpty and Paidin.
I took Wedgie to have her stitches out yesterday - should have been the day before but she went missing in action and Marmalade is continuing to stick a paw up to death!
Such a resilient cat!
Yesterday I ended up hopping mad and spitting feathers - I went to my elderly neighbours as I usually do on Wednesday but much later.
Her bed was filthy and soiled so when the carer arrived I politely asked her if she changed the bed.
I was told " Don't tell me my job!" when I said "I'm not telling you your job I'm just asking as someone else might do it" I was told " Don't talk to me - I'm not talking to you!" so cross words ensued!
I'm really not impressed with the levels of care that are being given there!
I'm going to try and motivate myself to have a swim today as it's a lovely day. Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
And we were young.

Nope - no way I can afford to put it on just now, or heaven knows how I'll cope when it gets really cold.
Have been seriously tempted tho' - downstairs is sitting at around a cool 15 deg:( and I can't move around (housework usually great for warming me up) as still not allowed to weight bear.....Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

We use heating in the morning to heat our hot water, but only for 20 minutes, so not really enough to take the chill out of the air. It was freezing last night, but I don't plan to put the heating on at night until snow falls. I'm hardcore0
