So we have 35 months to go. Our debt is steadily dropping. I should be pleàsed but my oh has been laid off. Luckily I should be able to increase my hours at work but feel like I've had a real kick in the teeth. Need to find a way to cover the bills without reducing my stepchange payment. Aaaaaaaaaggggggghhhhhhh! !! A sad L2B.xLBM 2008 [STRIKE]£45,091.23[/STRIKE] eek: now £7889:T Debt free date 18/07/2018

Hello April. Feeling quite despondent at present. Updated my stepchange budget today. Went from just over 2 years to being debt free, to another 36 years. I am sat tonight in tears. I actually thought we could see the finish line and instead we've detoured further back than we ever were or so it seems.
I am clutching at straws to find a way out before it makes us all incredibly ill.
I am pleased that we can pay all bills on my wage but devastated that our struggle has just been extended.
I know its our own fault, stupidity, naivety, university and 2 loss of jobs that ended us in this mess but surely karma can't be so cruel as to repeatedly knock us back.
Think a hot bath and a bit of easter chocolate may be required whilst I go pull myself together.

Been a while. Well we have now found out that oh is entitled to esa and I am trying to work out figures for tax credits. Then we can up our payments to stepchange and start making headway again.
In the meantime I am staying focused and positive that we will complete this in less than 4 years. I refuse to be beaten and I will pay back all we owe!

September again. Kids back at school. Have just worked out that we have so far repaid £27000ish, which is a massive amount. Next month we drop below 19k. Keep plodding on. L2B.xxxLBM 2008 [STRIKE]£45,091.23[/STRIKE] eek: now £7889:T Debt free date 18/07/2018

1st of December and what a year it's been. Tbh i will happily shut the door on 2014, hoping 2015 brings happier times with better health. However, have noticed we have paid off more than 28k and 1st of jan will see us under the 18k mark. Slowly getting there.
Christmas is tight this year, on only 1 wage but maybe oh will be mentally well enough to start something part time, which would ease the load no end.
The kids are being very grown up about the fact that money is tight and are doing their jobs without even asking for pocket money.
Hoping we can have a little family jaunt next year and am planning my savings to include that and christmas next year. I have never been so organised!!!
The sewing machine is coming out of storage and i have 1 present left to make!
Will start thinking of new years plans and promises soon.
Happy December guys. L2B.xLBM 2008 [STRIKE]£45,091.23[/STRIKE] eek: now £7889:T Debt free date 18/07/2018

Just chanced across your diary and wanted to say well done for being so determined to pay off your debt. You have done so well so far. Here's hoping things will pick up for you in 2015 and hubby manages to get back to work.0

So it's been a few months. Things have been really tough, with OH hospitalised a few times over. However, I have continued to try and stay on track. Today i updated our budget and have realised that on a single salary i can pay a little extra. So our debt has dropped below 16k and i have knocked 11 months off our final payment date. 3.5 years left, and I am adamant that i can get this lower faster.
Need to start meal planning better but i know the basics and can stick to them.
