Laptop or I pad?

Options
Hi,
I am hoping that someone knowledgeable will be able to help me. My laptop needs replacing. Its about 7yrs old which must be classed as prehistoric in computer terms. It is just about holding on but it is dying a slow painful death!

I am not techie at all so when I started looking for a replacement I am just bamboozled by the jargon. I use my laptop for basic surfing and emails and not much else. Would anybody recommend an Ipad instead of a laptop as they seem about the same sort of price and rather snazzy!!

If anyone has any suggestions on a replacement I would be ever so grateful. :D

First thing I'd suggest is go to a shop and try out an ipad and see whether or not you like typing text (emails) with it. Could be a dealbreaker for you.

Ipad is great if you want ultimate portability and just surfing & e-mails (but bear in mind Flash doesn't run on them), but if you want to do anything more then I would stick to a laptop.

to be honest you really do not need to spend that much money on a system for emails and browsing you can pick up a laptop for under £300 with will be more than fast enough

remember ipads also need a computer to sync with through itunes, they also do not have much storage for photos, the connections are VERY limited in that they have no USB ports etc

also depending on what exactly dieing a slow death means you might not actually need a new system https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2436849= is an excellent guide to see if you can get some more speed out of your old system

on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

Ok, thanks. I think maybe I should just stick with a laptop then. I am going to try following the above guidelines to help my poor old computer. I will report back to say if it can be saved!!

on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)
