Tesco - 15p Off Petrol?

I realy think its odd people still believe that the big supermarkets sell what some are effectively saying is dodgy fuel... if cars were not running properly due to the fuel bought from Tesco etc... do you not think they would be subject to legal action buy millions of broken down car owners?
Granted a few years ago there was an issue with a bad batch of fuel that did cause damage to cars but the supermarkets paid out for repairs on every single car that claimed against them... I know because my mums car was one of them..0 -
Try telling that to the computer in both my car and my wifes car then. It says there is a difference AND no I am not adjusting my driving style according to the fuel in my tank, I drive well over 30,000 miles per annum so the results are gained over considerable time.
They both bear me out. Trust me I am so not into wasting hard earned money, but as I explained earlier a customer of mine does own two fuel stations and he confirms that the fuel tankers do go to central points / depots to collect fuel, however if they swipe a identity card to show where the fuel is going to be sold it is blended with additives which do make (Albeit a relitively small) a measurable difference. They would be ripped to shreads in their "fuel save" advertising if it had not been proved to be true.:A
I do believe that all fuel is the same nowadays. It did used to be the case that esso ,I believe, advertised their fuel contained additives but the supermarkets and other fuel brands were quick to catch up. A few years ago there was a bad batch if fuel and it affected both supermarkets and the big fuel brands alike! I think even if some people went to the fuelling stations and saw it was the same stuff they still wouldn't believe it!
If you car runs better then fair enough though I wouldn't pay extra for branded! Do you own a Honda by chance?0 -
My car is a 1.2ltr Grande Punto and my wifes car is a Citroen Picasso. Frankly I dont expect some people to believe it, but it remains true in my case. I would recommend you try for yourself and do it on several full tank to full tanks record the distance covered by each full tank and see for yourself. To anyone that tells you "There is no I in team" say no there isn't
But there ARE TWO I'S IN COMMISSION and I dont get paid "Team"

the 30 can cases of coke are 2 for £15 in Morrisons at the mo, so won't be bothering with this offer0

You drive 30,000 miles a year in a 1.2 litre punto?? That must be frustrating lol! I'm only kidding! My husband has tested the theory before and didn't notice difference then we learnt for sure they were the same so doesn't matter we go with who is cheapest now as we have a thirsty car!My car is a 1.2ltr Grande Punto and my wifes car is a Citroen Picasso. It is about 20K in the punto and 10K in the picasso but it is a lot less frustrating now I have been on a special "Speed awareness course" at the request of the constabulary. Ahh 4 hours of instruction about "attitude" etc to speeding has made me considerably more appreciative of my efficient little car.:rotfl:
Of course not getting 3 points and the possible increases in insurance premiums had no influence on my descision to take the course! To anyone that tells you "There is no I in team" say no there isn't

Yeah and I used to drive 300 miles or more a day and I couldn't tell the difference between cheap fuel, branded fuel, unbranded "premium" fuel and branded premium fuel. The only time I ever noticed a difference was when I had a diesel and stuck bio diesel in it and it ran like poo. Other than that it's all propaganda and I suspect you're paying more attention to the cheap fuel as you're not expecting much from it purely psychological.
ALL petrol sold in the UK has to reach standards to be sold so quite how petrol supplied by one of the major oil companies can be rubbish is quite beyond me0 -
Tesco fuels (Frankly as far as I am concerned all supermarket fuels) are the cheapest available for the supermarket to buy. I know a man who own two independent garages one of which is a franchise to one of the bigger brands and he says that when he orders his fuel for either station he always states that he wants the driver to collect and swipe his (BP I think it is) I.D. card so they get the fuel mix with the additives in both stations.
I have to go past a shell station to get to work which is often 2p ltr cheaper than Tesco and even when it isn't we still buy the shell, even when Tesco have their 5p off offer simply because it pays us NOT to use it. Both our cars run measurably more efficiently and better.
Have to disagree. Use only supermarket fuels, whichever is giving best offer and i regularly get 55MPG out of my 2.0 ltr Mondeo and have only had servicing in the 3 years i had it, now 4 1/2 yeras old. Guess some cars are different to others.0 -
Tesco fuel runs fine in my 13 year old Almera - however as it's a Nissan then I don't expect to have problems. My daughters are my world0

Your friend is talking rubbish I'm afraid, Tesco fuel (and the other supermarkets) comes from it's nearest refinery.....run by the likes of Shell BP Texaco etc etc, and is the same quality as the big oil companie's forecourts Shell Esso etc0
