Good morning everyone,
dull and dreary here. Just the day to make soup. Will make a huge pot and freeze in portions. Only problem is finding freezer space -maybe should make that a medium pot.
Plan to search through veg trays and use any that look on their last legs.
Have been trying recently to use diluting orange/blackcurrant juice instead of my usual fizzy drinks. I make up a large jug in the morning and keep in fridge.I drink a lot of juice and this change has certainly shown on my GC budget. It takes a long time to eat an elephant and I'm doing it a bite at a time!!!0 -
hi all, not sure if you are aware but boxes of 80 pg tips are half price at £2.50 (i think) in c**p / sfield at the mo which is cheaper than a box of 40 ironically.... noticed yesterday. NSD's going well - havent updated sig yet but i have been to the shop 3 times in two weeks! really unimpressed with Mr T veg at the mo - i dont know if its a. cos my back kitchen gets warmer in the summer or b. my picker in Mr T is choosing dodgy veg, but it lasts less than a week - the parsnips and carrots go gooey, the potatoes green and sprout, etc, maybe i need to store them in a different place....DFBX2016 #160 - £3550/£8800

I've managed not to spend during the week, but it's a disaster of a week as the weather is miserable, I am way overtired and stressed, and we are eating rubbish. I got chicken out of the freezer last night for AP and DD tonight, to have with mushrooms, pasta and a jar of sauce. And I haven't made a lunch all week - I went to M&S on Monday and bought sushi (for Mon) and 2 chicken legs (yest and today) - and I didn't get lunch tues as too busy.
I must spend a few hours sorting the kitchen next week so AP has food while we're away and I know what to get when we get back.GC 2010 €6,000/ €5,897

My name is Ragz and I am addicted to 'bargain' groceries...
Just spent £67 in Budgens (£38 yesterday) on more 50% off stuff. OK some was whiskey and wine and cider but a lot was tinned and packet stuff that I don't really need... it was half price though!
Did get a LOT of coffee as that's expensive but..
I looked in my STOCK cupboard and I cannot believe how much tinned stuff I have. At some point I am going to have to start eating it!
HELP!
I'll be going back in the morning to see if the fresh stuff is down to 50%, if so I will buy loads of milk for the freezer and bread and meat if there is any.June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

Afternoon everyone
Just totted up this month's spends so far and updated my sig. I am hoping to come in on target but would really like to bring my spending down-need to sort out what I can cut without DH and DS feeling too hard done by! Maybe I bite the bullet and set a lower figure next month. I reckon that my food bill has increased by at least £30 per month probably due to price increases on the items I usually get.
On the plus side I have been shopping more in Lidl and Aldi and enjoying home grown salad leaves. This week I have also made bread in the breadmaker twice (I have a Kenwood Rapid Bake). The second time the top sank in the middle.....DH likes the granary bread I made. I bought a bread machine cookbook from a CS last Saturday and it has made mine and DH's mouth water!
Oh and Highland Fling I have given up diet coke too as I read about what fizzy does to the waistline and now buy the odd bottle of no added sugar cloudy lemonade from Sains or Teso but not Morrisons as their is yucky. That helps...
I have been trying to do Mothership's purse thingy and DH has been supervising as I find it difficult to get my head round it.
Hi Mothership
Off to browse Weezl's suggestions for feeding a family economically......
Have a good afternoon all.

Evening all, Spent £24 in Mr T's, mostly on wine for the store and snacks for the cinema trip tomorrow. Also got a cake for DS04 finishing nursery tomorrow, he will take that in.
Need to add £60 that OH spent in Mr T's yesterday on nothing much!!!! GRRRR!!!!, which is me pretty much spent up! August starts for me on 28th July, so hoping to come in on budget.
Need to clean and iron tomorrow afternoon, as no more nursery, and school does not start till mid Aug! Think I will be going GAGA by then! At least I will be saving the fees, so it all helps!!!!0
