I'm getting scarily close to using up my budget before the end of the month. I'm hoping I can get through the next few weeks on less than £40  I reckon it's do-able though. I have a fairly well stocked cupboard & freezer.

I've spent a lot but I've started stockpiling. So far I have stockpiled...
    • Fairy Liquid 740ml £1
    • Nescafe Parisian Coffee £1.50
    • Typhoo Teabags x 80 £1
    • Pasta Sauce jar 18p
    • Mayonnaise 740ml 34p
    • Digestive Biscuits 21p
    • Penne Pasta 18p
    • Tortilla Chips 17p
    • Baked Beans 25p
    • Kidney Beans 17p
    • Custard Creams 40p
I have bought LOADS of most of the above but now have to shift my focus to staying away from the shops and making do with what I've got.
I have almost run out of milk though need it for visitors tomorrow :(

well on to the last 2 weeks of my month and while i am pretty pleased with spend so far, can't believe how much stock piled stuff i still have, most of which i bought "to have in" as opposed to it being a good buy. Am also amazed by how many prices i don't know so don't know half the time if i am getting a good deal or not, think i will have to start carrying a notebook with prices of all the basics in, still at least i know i got a good deal on red lentils in mr t's yesterday £1.99 for a 2kg bag in their ethnic foods section ( i get thru a lot of lentils as i prefer to cook my own ham joints and the cooking liquer makes the most fabulous lentil and ham soup!)

right off to try and turn frying steak into burger mince, don't have a mincer so just going to use the food processor, wish me luck!!

    Morning

I was just sitting here feeling a bit peckish but deciding to wait until dinner time before eating anything when DD1 came home early from her work experience in a bakery with a box of doughnuts:j!!!
You know the rest! And they were free!

Today I bought ice-cream (wouldn't have bothered if I'd known about the doughnuts!), bread, eggs and lots of fruit and spent £11.94 so new total is £325.22.
August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.

Oh dear, I didn't do so well today - yesterday I spent £4 (exactly!) on some milk, bread, tinned tomatoes and a couple of other things which was ok but then today I blew the budget :(

I kind of figured that I would, since finding out yesterday that I've been offered a permanent job I was a little bit excited whilst shopping today and didn't quite stick to the rigid regime that I have followed over the last 3 weeks.

Still this is the last week of the challenge (for me anyway) and I spent £46.88 taking my total to £100.31... a huge 31p over budget :rotfl:

I forgot to buy some tuna so I will need to buy this tomorrow but that will take me to about £5 over budget I'm guessing at the end of the 4 weeks.

I know that I could have stuck to the budget this week if I had needed to, but with my happy thoughts I let loose a little this week - having said that, getting a weeks worth of shopping for less than £50 is quite impressive in the current climate as a month ago I was spending up to and around £80 a week for 4 people. In addition this week everyone has been at home which means that lunches have been more than just sandwiches and DS has been raiding the pantry for cereal most days (and several times a day) which means that more food tends to be eaten!
