Hi
I am looking at booking a place on a cake decorating class in a few weeks time to ice a sponge cake. The class also shows you how to split the cake before covering it with fondant icing.
I have seen on this board that some people use a maderia cake which I have never made before as I usually always make a victoria sponge but have never covered it with icing. Which type of cake is best for this and does anyone have a really good recipe I could try out before booking a place on the class.
Many thanksStash Busting Challenge 2016 6/520 -

Hi Guys, i havent been on here for months and months (been busy planning my wedding and doing my own perfume business) anyway ive tried to go back as far as i could to see how you've all been getting on. Bindiboo your cakes are as fab as always!! Ill try and get some pics up of my latest ones, my first cake of the year was a wedding cake
i was very anxious as i had never done one that ive been paid for before but she specifically wanted me to do it. I have learnt a few things though whilst doing it, and its given me confidence to attempt my own wedding cake. Just need to know what i want as i keep changing my mind haha!! Hope you have all had a lovely start to the year and i hope to see many more fabulous pictures of your creations. xx

Hey all, Great cakes as always!
Just wanted to share my first go at icing with fondant.
Not bad for my first go at icing! by sk00bie81, on Flickr
I'm planning to do the cake for our wedding reception in May and thought I'd better have a practice! Am really pleased how it turned out, although there are couple of dodgy bits. :rotfl:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger No. 26 :hello:XStitch to do list:-- Birth Sampler -- Christmas Angel -- Mum's Xmas Stitch -- Christmas decs 3 & 4 -- Xmas Bird ---- Snowflake Sonata -- Be Jolly -- JE Unicorn -- Start HAED!!! --0
