Thank you hun :D Googling sugar craft supply shops brings up a load of stuff but it seemed to be mainly cake shops that sold only a little decoration or that did sugar craft, if that makes sense.

I will post some pics closet to the weekend if it doesn't turn out to be a disaster i was thinking of using the easy vanilla cake recipe people here have recommended but i may sub the pods for extract think i read 1tsp per vanilla pod if its the good stuff.

I know it's confusing isn't it! The Windsor shop I used to highly recommend but went last week with a huge list (£100+) all written down and organised- not like me. Delighted when we got there. New premises huge store quite giddy- I don't get out much! Only to start shopping and the prices were much higher than online asked the assistant and then the manager/owner whatever came over. I felt like leaving my basket and leaving:( Lots of offers too online that were not in store:( really pi**ed off. Not penny diffences either. I'll kno next time tho!
Think it should be made VERY clear on the site that the prices are different:(

Yeah i was a little wow that was x amount online when we got there today but not just on their website on others, i saw the black icing and it was like 4.99 per 500g i think that is expensive well it is for me im cheap lol but luckily i found some more around the other side more expensive than online but by not too much so i was like phew, i also noticed they had the same items in a different pack or different quantity or just with different name at different prices that did not seem to rise in price in the normal way hope that make sense, like normally i can look at something and go ok that's why that's that price is this is that price but i was like huh? :rotfl:
I looked around a little but tbh i was more concentrating on what i needed this time if i go again i will have a good root around :D i did look at some of the items that i want for the future but i was a bit put off with the price compared to what i have seen online.
But thank you so much otherwise id still be worrying about this icing lol now I'm just worrying about the cake recipe I'm going to do a 1/4 mix of each and make some test batters the oh can eat them as I'm on a diet and doing well so do not want to derail that, i asked about lemon flavoured icing too cos I'm making a lemon and ginger cake for dads b day in a few weeks but they said to buy the flavouring and icing separate which is a shame i did see some ready flavoured stuff online somewhere.

    long post sorry

Think I'm gonna stick to online orders in future! And whilst I'm ranting the layout was confusing wasn't it. Think it was divided buy manufacturer rather than individual product ie all the squires stuff on one aisle so similar items weren't shelved together. It meant I had things in and out of my trolley trying to remember where I'd seen what. Although they "Windsor" are still cheaper in store than my local little decorating shop but no where near the customer service or free advice:)
Online for me from now on!

The layout was awful especially for someone like me who has no real idea what they are doing yet lol, and also they would have multiple makers of the same item but they weren't next to each other, they would be at opposite end of the isles etc or the next shelf over, problem with me is because i am new to this i like to see what the item is pick it up etc if that makes sense gives me a better idea better than a write up and pic as they can be deceiving, once i get the hang of it online ordering will be great or just peek down there and then look online if that's not too cheeky, also i didn't really see any staff apart from on the tills until just before we where leaving but it looked like they where filling online orders.

Hope you've got on ok today littlebit:) Totally agree with the layout etc but they do have a fabulous range don't they. Think I'll order my bulk buying online and pop in for a mouch around if my DH will take me.

I've finished another order today. It'll be collected around ten tomoz. I was really quite bored with this one to be honest. I really don't like doing repeats of the same or similar design, but people who've seen one say can you do one like so and sos etc. boring boring boring. Rant over!

ok so i made my mix medera cos that came out the best o the test batches and all i have is small eggs for the amount of mix i needed 9 large so i used 18 small but i have always smelt egg in home made cakes and well i can smell it atm when i turned them as i don't have a fan assisted oven does that sound like too many eggs i went on a few posts i found on Google saying 1 large was _ to 2 small. so far i have the 2 smaller cakes in the oven for the head its a penguin and i put a cupcake in so i can taste the cooked batter.

Also wondering if i should put the syrup stuff on it you know water and sugar? dreading that it may go soggy!
