We were on a quest to find our perfect chocolate sponge for the bottom layer of our wedding cake and this is what we decided :D

Littlebit, I made this cake a couple of weeks ago, it was delicious. Made white chocolate icing to go in the middle and to cover it.

Ok so i made 1/4 batches of each of these recipies above and then a quarter batch of

3 http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/easy_chocolate_cake_31070 only thing i did change on this recipe was to add a pinch of salt apparently they are good friends for flavour and also sub some flour for a little more cocoa powder as it wasnt quite chocolatey enough when i made the big one i posted a picture of the other day.

I then put the batters into cupcake casings and baked them for say 20 min 160c None fan assisted oven, i found the first recipe was fine rose well quite chocolatey would definitely use it again, the second ones flavour reminded me of coco pops (which i love) where it had formed a slight crust on the outer edges sad thing is all but a couple of the cupcake versions seemed to sink in the center (shown in picture above) even though they seemed to be cooked just fine , so that brought me to the last one and well this is what the OH and i have decided will be the chocolate layer of our wedding cake, i just hope it will hold up 3 tiers.

Also i used just plain flour for all the recipes and as i made only 1/4 of each batter added 1/4 tsp of both bicarb and baking powder to each mixture.

Finally starting to feel like myself again today:) Can't Believe it lasted so long. It was horrible. No baking for a few days yet tho need two 'clear days' fingers crossed it won't be long:) Ive lost a fortnight !!!

    Poor you :(

I've got a 3 and 0 cake to do for next weekend. Then a graduation cake the following weekend. Then a giant cupcake the following weekend! I'll need to pick some brains about decorating soon!

I'm also going to do charity cupcakes for 2 local sisters who have cancer. The eldest is 12 and has bone cancer and the youngest has just been diagnosed with lymphoma. Mum has been of work a year already and now on no pay and dad has taken a massive drop in his wages too due to time off so lots of people trying to raise some money for them and I thought that although it will just be a small amount of money, every little helps! x

Monkey I love the flip flop cake it's fab!

I'm so excited! I've just done my first ever batch of macaroons! I've always been too scared to try them before but bought Jo Wheatleys new book and there was a recipe for orange and hazelnut macaroons that looked ok. Well ade them and this is how they came out, really chuffed!

Thanks everyone for the compliments and the congrats!

I was supposed to be making some cupcakes tonight for my hen party tomorrow, but shock, horror I cant be bothered to bake

Its only going to be a quiet evening with a few friends round and a small tea-party (though everyone else is bringing a bottle of wine!). I'll see if I can get motivated in the morning to make some:cool:

I can't say I blame you! I'm not rushing to do cupcakes after 216 last week! Thank heavens I've now got macaroons to try. Now want to try 6 different flavours for my dad for Fathers day.

They look lovely but and i mean this in no disrespect :D when i saw them i thought mini hamburgers and that is what the bf said too, so just think of the creative fun you can have pipe a little green icing or whatnot on top of the brown or yellow for cheese, sprinkle with sesame seeds and put a toothpick through :D, oo i wonder if you could make a toadstool out of these and with a cupcake or marshmallow stem for a cake decoration with a fairy or would that not go together?

Must admit I'm not entirely sure what macaroons are :o i always thought they were coconut.
