what i did find difficult is getting the icing into the gaps eg the ears, what could youd you recommend to make it easier as the back of the cake dosnt look fabulous , should i be cutting into the icing ?

To be honest I've never done such a complicated shape with fondant but I imagine that patient easing is what's required for round the ears. :)

Wow, you've all been so busy!

Bindiboo - I have to ask how you got the two-tone effect in the cream roses? And also which nozzles you used? The effect looks really stunning! There are 3 big birthdays coming up this year, I'd love to get that effect for the giant cake I shall be making in the summer!

Got to make a fireman sam/thomas cake for Friday for my friends little boy whos 2 on Saturday. Its got to be dairy free, I've never made one before. I've bought some dairy free marg, do I need to do anything different with the quantities or anything?

s23xy_c - I have a couple of eggs knocking around in the fridge, and you have inspired me to bake some sultana scones. They will be quick but yumcious!

Baking is fast becoming my favourite pastime - I just need to plan around when I'm going to see people so I can share the joy.
