CurlyLou I took mine into work for the Macmillan coffee morning. I got a large cereal box and cut crosses in the top and pushed those bits in. They helped hold the cones nice and tight!0

got a bit behind on keeping up to date reading and looking at everyones posts!
have had a quick flick through and loving everyting that have seen - so fab!! :T
I had attempt at the ice cream cone cupcakes - have turned out ok, and was quite pleased with them for first couple attempts! The second lot went a bit 'flat' ontop as i iced them in a warm kitchen the other week so the deflated a bit!
Quick question - I read back on here some people use lurpak and trex to make their butter icing, could i have quantities please? also what does the trex do to the icing? hubby thought i was bit mad saying that it could be added to butter icing!
Also have any of you made the ice cream cone cupcakes and taken them anywhere from outside your home? I am hoping to make some for the little family party we are having at my mums for my little miss' birthday, but i dont know how to get them there without them falling over!!
Hi, I tend to use a trex mix of butter icing now, people tend to find it lighter and less sickly. It's a 50:50 mix with butter, using a normal buttercream recipe though I also use less icing sugar. As well as tasting lighter it also makes the buttercream whiter.0 -

I think I'm going to give it a light drizzle of icing tomorrow and add the almonds on top rather than in the cake itself ready for consumption at the weekend.
. Tasted good though.

Bindiiboo your cakes always look so beautiful and delicious but how on earth do you manage with fresh cream in this heat it must be a nightmare! I thought buttercream was bad enough!0

I know, I'm melting right now!
I usually make the sponge day before decorating but was working till 11pm last night and really couldnt be bothered so got up early this morning before the temp got too high and worked quickly when it came to whipping the cream and decorating the cake. Then safely in the fridge with extra ice packs just in case. Strict instructions to my sis in law to make sure that the cake when straight into a fridge when she collected it....
I got mountains of ironing to do in a mo but will be having the fans on whilst I tackle it..0
