  • Im overdrawn on my account and signed up for the save the change.
I checked my internet banking and they have moved change into my savings account and labelled it "save the change"

Will i get the bonus? or will i have an angry missus say what
a waste of time it was to keep filling her car at £10.01!!

    what does the T&C say?

    I've been Money Tipped!
I rang telephone banking who put me through to the department who deal with this account. The girl I spoke to went off to speak to a team leader and rang me back to say i'ts because I am overdrawn that I don't qualify.

Glad I only did the 6 transactions in one day and not 6 everyday or so for a week.

Flashmat - I think it is the T&C you signed up to - unless they changed the T&C in the last couple of weeks.

    :o

I guess this is (finally) one thing where LloydsTSB are right, and I was wrong. I was positive that the T&C said that it was only if the save the change bit would take you into unauthorised overdraft that it wouldn't be applied, however, the T&C in teh letter they sent me match those on the web
    7. If on any day you do not have sufficient funds in your current account to pay your debit card transactions or if any single transaction has taken your account overdrawn (whether or not the overdraft is authorised), we will not round up any debit card transactions on that day and no “change” will be transferred to your nominated savings account. We will not make a Save the Change transfer to your nominated savings account if that transfer will take your current account overdrawn.

Still makes it about 4 - 1 in my favour against Lloyds in the self-righteous stakes though

Time to bump some money from savings for a couple of months - the lost interest is nowhere near the bonus top up from them. :money:

Got three accounts, two going nicely but one is feeding into the wrong online saving account. CS sorted it relatively easily. Best methods so far I have found are

    1. Petrol - pay at the pump - less embarassing
    2. Online betting - Willaim Hill accept £2.01 deposits, but you dont need to gamble it.
    3. And easily the best - egg savings, transfer via Debit card, takes about two minutes a day to do three separate transactions each paying 99p into save the change.

Loking forward to a free £240 thanks to LLoyds

    Good luck everyone
  • Hi Zooropa, tell me more about this £240. I thought Lloyds only matched £50 for February , then £50 for March ?

Looks like Zooropa is doing it on 3 accounts. The thing which isnt much mentioned is that the bit that lloyds match is subject to tax, so for £50 matched funds, you'll receive £40 into your account. £40 * 2 months * 3 accounts = £240.

Yep - three accounts, but you need to set up and nominate three savings accounts too. The online saver pays well, ut you need £250 to get the decent interest rate.
  • Good for you Zooropa. Well done ! Hopefully LloydsTSB will be well done too if we all do our best...

If anyone registers and has only used their debit card previously for cash withdrawals they will need to unlock the chip on their card first, so it can be used for purchases. This can be done on any speedbank machine, by selecting other services, pin services then unlock pin, no need for lengthy phonecalls.
This is normal practise when using a debit card chip and pin for the first time. If a debit card is tried for purchases without unlocking, the transaction will come up as incorrect pin even though you are keying in the correct one, the system just does not recognize it.
    Hope this helps.

I've just checked my accounts online and no sign that this 'save the change' is working. So I phoned their helpline and was told that I will not see any matching during February, but it will be reflected in March, together with March's matchings.

After further enquiries (0845 3 000 000), my online application for 'save the change' didn't work, so I've now registered over the telephone (waiting to hear back from the 'Internet Banking' section as to whethe they will backdate my payments to when I originally registered).
