I have been having fun today paying for every small purchase with my card! The look of confusion on some of the cashiers faces when I ask can I pay £24.01 by card and the rest by cash? - it's really funny!

Used my card at the post office to post a parcel & buy some stamps, made a £3.10 purchase in a dept store, a £3.02 petrol purchase, etc, etc.

Mine isn't working either even though the savings account I have nominated has been open for years and I had the letter stating everything had been set up etc.

    Not impressed.

Shall have to give them a ring or go into my local branch to investigate.

  • sb44, have a look online at your 'transfers and payments' for your current account. I thought the same until I checked.

Well it says Save the Change and the account details but there is nothing in that particular account.

You don't have to do the transfer yourself manually do you?
  • Sorry not sure sb44.

Next to my 'save the change' was £13.75. I clicked on 'save the change' and it said the transfer will be made 5.2.07. I assume they will wait until the end of today and hopefully when I look tomorrow the transfer will have been made.

    Mine seems to be working.....:T

I made a payment of £5.01 on 2nd and Save the Change was added to my account on 5th...seems like it takes a couple of days for the debit to show and then another couple of days for the Save the Change to be added to your account AND then transfered to the account you nominated.

I assume that they will 'match it' at the end of the month.

Don't blink when trying to put £3.01 worth of petrol in, it's a tenner before you know it!:rotfl:

  • One simple way to spend (without actually spending) is to pay your credit card bill from the Credit Card providers website so they collect the money by processing this as a Debit Card transaction. Make several payments (obviously always the minimum payments and several others all for amounts of varying pounds and 01p).

So, you are not spending extra cash just reducing your Credit Card bill and getting 99p from LTSB for each reduction (e.g. several small payments of £5.01p).

I'm doing it and it works (provided the payment is done by Debit Card and not a Direct Debit or Transfer).
