Have won on scratch card. Will I be taxed on it?

woohooo I have won on a scratch card.

I can't believe it, I am not a gambler, just buys the odd scratch card and lottery ticket now and then. I only Spent just £1 and I won.

The question is........ Will I be taxed on it? :eek:

EDIT: I DO NOT CLAIM ANY BENEFITS !!

Congratulations. I imagine as you've posted on the benefits board you are getting benefits. If you've won a lot to take you over £6,000 in total cash assets you'll have to declare it. You won't be taxed on it.

IN answer to your question all gains from gambling are tax free on receipt, however you may pay tax depending where you put your money and your own personal tax situation
