... WE get Child Benefit and that is it!!! We no longer qualify for tax credits, even though they still pay us £11 or so a week, we stash it to another bank, have rung them and written to them, p!!! take!
Congratulations on your win - enjoy it!
About the child tax credits - we were in a similar situation last year, I gave them all the information in advance, and knew that our entitlement was nil from April. They carried on paying until the renewal date in August, which confused me but I assumed there must be some reason why the payment was made in arrears. They stopped payment in August, and then wrote later (after January the next year I think) to claim back all the money paid from April. I had no problem paying back the money, but it really annoyed me that I had done everything to try to prevent them from overpaying me, but they'd insisted on doing it anyway! Anyhow, if you've only just gone over threshold, it might just be their rubbish system, and they will stop paying after the annual renewal in August and ask for the money back at some future date.0 -
A friend of mine qualified for Tax Credit as her husband had been off work sick for a while so his wages were cut.
Instead of being paid for 6 months she was paid for 10 months as the scheme was being phased out, so even though she did not qualify for this period she could still legally be paid & not have to refund the money.
D A F T system.
