woohooo I have won on a scratch card.
I can't believe it, I am not a gambler, just buys the odd scratch card and lottery ticket now and then. I only Spent just £1 and I won.
The question is........ Will I be taxed on it?
EDIT: I DO NOT CLAIM ANY BENEFITS !!
If its a large win, then your obviously worried about whether you will be taxed, just send me the scratchcard, and you wont have any more worries.[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.
[/greenhighlight][redtitle]
The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that[/redtitle](house of lords debate, talking about Cameron)0 -

If we classes child benefit as being 'on benefits' then half the working population of the country are all 'on benefits' too lol."Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0

You don't pay tax on winnings from the National Lottery.
FYI: Even though the standard betting tax was abolished several years ago, a tax on National Lottery tickets still remains. It's 12% of the ticket price. So you already paid your tax when you bought your ticket. It's why some people call it a tax on the poor.
Lottery dosh breakdown per £1
50p prizes
28p good causes
12p tax
5p retailers commission
4.5p Camelot operating expenses
0.5p Camelot profit0
