A Warning about ZOOPLUS

Used Zooplus yesterday for the first time. Was attracted by their 10% of first order offer. As I was checking out the shopping trolley it showed the discount of the free postage and the 10%, but when I paid (through paypal) the 10% was no longer showing. When I queried this with Zooplus I was told that because I did not register with them and used the quick checkout I was not eligible for their 10% new customer discount.
Tbh, I feel a bit cheated.:( I feel its misleading to put on the front page of their website that new customers get 10% off and then they use the excuse that you did not register with them in order to get out of paying it. Very sneaky.
So be careful new buyers from Zooplus, you have been warned.
Any advice on what I could do about it, if anything?

Cancel your order under the DSR's :-) then register and re-order and you'll have the discount. I expect they don't give the discount if you don't register as they then have no easy way of knowing if your a new customer - it is a bit sneaky though.0

Thanks for the advice, but they have already sent me a "dispatched" email.
Tbh, its their loss anyway as I certainly wont reorder from them again. I hate companies who behave so underhand.
On checkout I didnt see any message that warned if you use the quick checout you would not recieve the discount.0 -

Their terms and conditions say you can cancel at any time within 14 days of your order being delivered.
1. Right of cancellation and returns policy
As our valued customer you have the unconditional right to cancel your contract within 14 days of delivery, without being obliged to state any reasons. To comply with this time limit, all you need to do is to either return the goods bought online or send a return request within the 14-day period by e-mail, telephone, or fax to:
E-mail Contact
Telephone: 01234 430366
Fax: 01234 430367
You will have to pay the return postage though, so if the 10% saving is more than what the postage costs its not worth it. Alternatively you could try telling them why you are cancelling and see if they will refund you the discount if you register or something like that.0 -

No, it probably wouldnt be worth it if I have to pay return costs. I bought 2.5kg of Orijen, I would imagine that would cost more than £2.15 to return. Oh well you live and learn. If they do that on every new customer who wants a quick checkout I don't think they'll last very much longer anyway.0 -

Instead of complaining because you made an error, why not just register next time you want to place an order to get your discount?
Where did you see an offer of 10% discount anyway? It says new customers automatically get 5% on the front page and is given whether you register or not!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Er excuse me, I didnt make an error, and it offers a 10% discount to new customers on the top left hand corner of the homepage (no mention of having to register). Go and have a look.
Also it is not given whether you register or not, otherwise I would have got it wouldnt I?0 -

I did look, hence why I posted what I did! See for yourself...
I even did a trial checkout to check the discount is still applied, and it was.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
I have a "basket" sitting at checkout (waiting to hear back about whether an "unsigned for" delivery is possible) ...
My welcome discount is sitting in the basket.
If it was there, and you then went to pay and it had disappeared, why did you go through with the transaction instead of emailing and asking why at that point?
IMVHO I can't see the point in buying something and not registering - you usually get emails re very good offers etc when you do.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250
£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!0
