    Hi everyone,

Congrats to Mr Penpen, it's so nice to be rewarded for your efforts (she says bitterly, but that's another story.)

We don't get Christmas bonuses here, but that's working in local government for you, in fact we haven't received so much as a chocolate this year:( . Never mind, at least it makes me stick to my diet.

DH was supposed to be working at MK M&S today and picking up the goodies but he's had to go into his proper job so he'll have to go shopping in the morning.

Tonight I want to change the beds and sort out the packing for tomorrow so that we can leave as soon as I finish work. Loubee, my parents live (and I was brought up) at Charnock Richard so we'll be visiting them (not staying) on boxing day. DD's boyfriend is from Blackburn and we'll be staying on the Wirral with DH's mother so we have lots of Northern links. We're southern softies now though.

    Good afternoon everyone,

Well, popped on here earlier after the madness of Mr Ts, and it was closed for maintenance!!!! Always like to have a quick browse while i eat my lunch, but never mind, its up and running now!!!!
Actually, Mr Ts wasnt too bad, and i am now ready for Christmas!!! All presents bought and wrapped, all food bought and ready to eat/cook. Once ive finished work tomorrow, i will crack open the quality street and all the other nibbles and away we go - full of Christmas spirit!!!!! Mind you, i always think that ive forgotton something, but fingers crossed, im done.
My two went with their dad this morning, DD not very happily, he had a bit of a go at her for being awkward about coming back, then said if the weather was bad he wouldnt be bringing her back, and when she looked like she was going to cry, said if it stays like it is, he would bring her back. So, she went, at the end of the day its his christmas with them, and im sure shes only going cos she knows there will be pressies. I am expecting a call tho, saying hes not bringing her back, he drives for a living (an RAC man), its a lovely day here in the south west, so if he cant do the desent thing and bring her back then im not sure what will happen. He wonders why she wont stay, but when he acts like this, you cant blame her!!!
Sorry about the moan, but he hardly sees them and when he does he always causes problems!!!!
Well, better get off and do something,
Hope everyone is having a lovely day (going to read the rest of this thread now)
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I feel so tired. I can't get any time to relax to shake this cold off!

Done my credit card checking - spent £300 less than on a usual month and had RAC to pay as well. Food is still a bit high - £355 for 2/3 of us but I guess it is Christmas shopping. We spent £5-600 at this time of year in the past! This site has been helpful in saving money. I have been here a year at the end of December.

Prepared the roast for tonight - having roast beef which I smothered in French mustard and thyme, HM Yorkshires, stuffing with sesame seed topping and garlic, brocolli, sweetcorn and HM spiced red cabbage, roast spuds with paprika and HM gravy with port and cranberry jelly.

I lost an hour this morning. Woke up at 9 and thought it was 10 when I had a drifting sleep. It was 11. No problem but hate it when you think it is a certain time and it isn't.

Son has to move his packed boxes to his storeroom later and got to change the sheets on two double beds.

Panicking about our flight on Sunday with all this fog. We are going EasyJet to Gatwick and back to Edinburgh. We are quite near to Edinburgh airport but it will be a long drive to Bournemouth from Gatwick.

We can change the flight to New Year for a small charge but have paid our car hire and we are insured. We don't normally insure our domestic flights but have done this time.

I don't know why it is mostly BA who are cancelling.

This month has been so stressful with plans changing on me!
    An average day in my life:hello: :eek::mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T :o :rotfl: :rotfl: :p :eek::mad: :beer:

  • Afternoon all, I'm having a ghastly day today, I've had a really irritating cough for about 10 days, and its seems to be at its worst today. Given me a right thumper of a headache. Well at least I have managed to get my DW (dear wife), her christmas present today, left it late I know!! but better late than never I say. Now all I have to do is figure out how an ipod works?, and make sure I have all the necessary bits.
The shops are manic, I find christmas a nightmare, so much to organise for such a short day which seems gone in no time at all. I really look forward to the excitement and anticipation of christmas eve though, picking up the turkey from a local farm and preparing it while listening to good old Frank crooning some festive songs. Then a few warm totties before heading up to our local village church for a sing song with the kids, and back for some hot ham sandwiches for tea. All the anticipation of the arrival of santa is great, I tend to find though that by three on christmas day all i want to do is go to sleep. Am I alone in this, do others prefer christmas eve to christmas day?
    I had a plan..........its here somewhere.

    Good afternoon

Just finished work and don't have to return until 8th January - fantastic! Somerfield really quiet on way home and I bumped into my OH in there buying even more wine. Will need to crack one open soon to celebrate the hols! Have got most of my food shopping done with just a few bits to get tomorrow/Saturday.

    Best wishes to all

    Hi everyone :santa2:

Well, nice peeps came and picked up the overlocker I sold on ebay and paid me cash ..... and I've blown most of it at Aldi/Lidl. So, in 2 days, I have spent almost the enitre months food budget. And tomorrow I want to go to the market for fresh meat. To be fair, I had run the freezers down and I have bulk bought stuff like fruit juice and tinned goods. Might have sneaked the odd bottle or 27 of booze in there too  Well, I will start spouting off about having an open house after xmas, so had to buy lots, plus loads of nibbles and sweets. I've invited Nels, so there had to be enough in :rotfl:

So, today has mainly been spent shopping/putting it away and chatting to the ebayers. They had come over from Halifax, which I guess is 60 miles away, so it was only polite to offer them coffee. Mr TM has done the cleaning .... aka run vac around middle of rooms, but he has done the stairs :j My SC is currently wafting deelish smells of steak and veg casserole around the house and I shall make sponge and custard for pud. Forgot to put BM on earlier, so best do that soon. Still need to change boys beds as well. As for checking all thepressies and wrapping the last ones, that will have to wait until tomorrow morning. Ooops, that's when I'm going to the market  Oh well :D

Will have to make another trip to mum's too as she's lending me all her xmas tablecloths and I left them there  Ah well, I feel remarkably calm about xmas - it will happen one way or the other and if I start with a bucks fizz at brekkie and move onto the sherry about 10.30, I'm sure it will all go swimmingly :rotfl:

Right, best hide all the stocking fillers before boys come home (have managed to send Mr TM for them :D)

    See ya

Nelski - yes, I noticed that the Next sale was beginning. The bargains are always best at the clearance outlet stores so I might get over to the one in Dartford which PP tipped me off about (unless anybody knows of one more centrally in south-east London?)

I'll definitely look there for "work trousers". (P.S. Nels - you can stay with me if you come down for the Old Style London Mini Meet - you can be the first to test out my sofa-bed (I've made sure it works, but nobody has yet slept on it! :D)

Tomorrow I need to get a Christmas tree :xmastree: preferably a real one, although that requires some organisation as I would also need to find something to put it in  so perhaps I'll go for an artificial one.
