David lloyd gym membership.....prices??

hi everyone,
does anyone know how much david lloyd warrington is a month?
the sales person is refusing to tell me. but she wants me to come down to the club and talk "options" i told her i only want to go the gym. might as well go the 24 hour pure gym round the corner for £18
As has been said, it depends. There was a good deal a while back for Total Fitness members, with a reduced, I think half price offer. There have just been Xmas offers. Tell them whether you're off-peak or on-peak and whther you wish to use one club or many or just the gym and the courts.
I was a member at Warrington. Easily the best club in that town. The 24 hour gym in Warry is nice enough, and if you don't need a pool would be a god choice, I think it's kit is still second to DL though. The PT staff are ace as well.
I have been in gyms for 20 years. If you're not a strongman David Lloyd is the best gym you could be at, the kit is a high standard. Personally I think DW and TF are low rent in comparison, but then they're cheaper. DW are usually dirty, can be full of meatheads and the kit is poor. DW Trafford has decent kit but it's just had a refurb. DW and TF kit tends to be poorer because it's owned, DL rent theirs.0 -
I've just been quoted £89 for anytime/single membership are they smoking crack??
I REALLY want to join, I'm already a member of Fitness First off peak at £14.95, looking for something more upmarket for my evening sessions as I plan to keep the FF one because my personal trainer works out of that one! SIGH0 -
David Lloyd advertised on their web site and web banners 12 consecutive days for £12, last day for the deal being 19 December 2012. I was told that the deal had been ended as the gym and car park were getting too busy. If the deal had really be offered and if it had been offered, when it ended, who knows.
The salesman offered me 3 days for £20.
Health and Fitness Membership Any time Membership
(not tennis, no free towels)
3 month deal single person £87.50 per month
Joining fee/Admin fee/Set up fee £35
Total £297.50 for 3 months, close to £100 a month
I couldn't just hand over £297.50, I had to sign "a contract". The £87.50 would carry on coming out of my bank each month until I gave a clear calender month cancellation. If I wanted three months only, I would have to cancel in writing by the end of February 2013.
The salesman clearly didn't like me asking about contracts and asking for clarification about cancellation periods.
The salesman phoned me a few days after my visit. I said that I wasn't going to use the swimming pool, the exercise classes or the cafe but just the gym. I said that £100 seems rather high just to use the gym. The salesman said "it depends if it makes you happy, is £100 a month doable (i.e. can you afford it)". I said it is certainly doable but I can join fitness first for £30 month through my employer, so £100 a month is excessive, you might be slightly nicer than fitness first but not over 3 times as nice.
I can buy a good treadmill for £800 (paying £80 a month for 10 months for it) , I could use it for 3 years and probably get £400 on ebay for it.
David Lloyd did seem a bit like a Country Club, there were a lot of kids around, there are no kids at Fitness First and to be honest a child free zone suits me.
Not everyone was smartly dressed or looking affluent and there were quite a few old cars in the car park. Been told that some big companies (John Lewis/ Waitrose)have a corporate deal with David Lloyd, some people might be paying as low as £50, while I am expected to pay double, but not sure as I don't know anyone that has a corporate deal to ask.0 -

I pay £135 p/m for a corporate joint membership which would normally be £180.0 -
The wife and I went to Oxford on Sunday. Best offer (peak, non-raquets, non-vantage) was 82 for one or 73 each for joint. You get 10% discount for signing up to a year's contract and they had a promo on for 12 months for the price of 10. These offers combined meant monthly cost of £61 for an individual, or £55 joint...Much better value than I was expecting actually.
ETA: Sorry, I wasn't overly clear above..the 10% discount is for *paying* for a year up front. All prices above are based on a 12 month contract...0 -
Just wen to David Lloyds to ask about family membership.
If i want 12 month contract it will cost us 220 £ (me, hubby and 3.5 year old son). There is promotion at the moment 12 moth for price of 10-work out 183£ per month
If i'm not sure that 12 month plan will suit me I can try flexible contract for 3 month. cost for family per month-264£
too pricey:(
off peak price is 79.75£ pp with 12 for 10 promotion
it works out 145 £ per month per family.
cheaper but still pricey for us....“The simple things are also the most extraordinary things, and only the wise can see them.”

I was wondering whether anyone could help me. I have been a member of David Lloyd for over 3 years. Unfortunately I fell into financially difficulty and had to freeze my membership a few months ago but I was unable to pay the reduced monthly membership fee and emailed the manager explaining my situation and asking whether I could cancel my membership. I have been told that I would have to pay the outstanding fees plus 3 full months membership fees which would totaly nearly £500 which I do not have. Has anyone had problems with cancelling their membership and what did they do. Thanks0

Hi all
I actually found this thread really helpful when trying to decide whether to go and check out David Lloyd - it's the top Google result for "price of david lloyd gym membership"! So anyway, wanted to give something back - I've scanned in the current price list that they gave us when we went for a look around DL Hatfield last week. Presume these vary from club to club.
I'm not allowed to post links so you'll have to slightly re-construct this in your browser:

(replace the 'dot' with an actual dot, remove the spaces and type it into the address bar of your web browser)
We got an additional discount on the standard annual price as they're doing the '12 months for the price of 10' at the moment. So a couple's membership, health and fitness (no racquets), yearly instalment, came to £627. Thought this was pretty reasonable! Got given some vouchers for a month's free towels too. (then it's £1 per time, which admittedly is going to add up)
Also worth mentioning that the sales assistant wasn't pushy and was really clear about cancellation - apparently all their terms and conditions have changed in the last few months, sounds like they're trying to be better about this kind of stuff. We paid for 12 months in advance, but if we give notice before 11 months are up, we can cancel without it auto-renewing. After that it's 3 months notice. If they're going to put up their prices by more than inflation+1% then the T&C's say they HAVE to give you enough notice in order that you can cancel your membership before the price goes up.
Hope this helps
C
PS: I don't work for DL, although I know there will always be sceptics when positive comments are posted! ;-)0 -
funkylady789,
You need to tread carefully. I think earlier in this thread people reported that at any sign of non-payment according to contract, DL just sever any communication with you and call in a debt collection agency.0 -
I signed up last week for a West Midlands based DL and am paying £113 per month for peak couples membership (12 month contract).
Yes, £56.50 a month each is a lot for a gym but for the quality of the site (only a few months old) and range of latest equipment I had to factor in the next possible place and the cost.
I could have paid £45 a pppm but i'd have to drive for 21 miles round trip to get the same kind of facilities and my will power would probably be put off by the drive.
I can walk to this one in 10 minutes, 2 mins in the car by the time I park. Given the proximity and the facilities I think it's worth it but I know of far cheaper gym's.
With DL I expect to pay a premium but having used so may gyms over the years it's the first time i've been able to afford it and am not regretting it one bit.
They are also pretty good with their contract as my partner has ongoing medical issues that can stop her from using the gym as often as she'd like due to occasional hospital visits. Their view is simply that in that scenario you can suspend your membership for a period of time on a reduced rate. It is however going to cost you around £20-25 to keep it ticking over but far better than paying the full amount when you physically cannot attend.
As of 1st Feb the cost is due to rise to £65 pppm (Again for couples peak membership).
Hope this helps some of you get a view for costs.0
