Waterstones was sold off since HMV are dying out. They sold it for a ridiculous price. I used to work at HMV but got out when I started to notice far to many changes happening. Now talk to my old friends who are still there, and although they're trying to keep up and running its hard and now HMV are renting off unit space in some shops to up the income. you might see an Orange phone stall there.
I just find it weird that 2 Dorothy Perkins stores in a very busy area closed, yet when I went to Shrewsbury, theres was still open. Arcadia might just be cutting down...
If TK Maxx go, where else would I get my Betsey Johnson accessories for an amazing price! But I wouldnt be suprised..
Its so sad to see all this happening. But we'll come back from this. Just need to suffer first lolFull-time Mum, Part-time freebie hunter0 -
What about Evans? I wouldn't be surprised if it was Ann Harvey or Dottie Ps either.0

like i said i cant see none of the arcadia group going into administration but whats likely happening is theres other reasons involved but not sure what since you sya they were busy0 -

Agree- again with Arcadia-Dorothy Perkins, Topshop, Burton, Evans, Wallis and BHS (not sure if anyone but DCFC79 is reading my posts!)
Trust me, I used to work for them in head office. Closing failing stores in the masses is nothing new for that company, they open many more elsewhere, they don't seem to stop for air and are contantly changing which IMO I think is what keeps firms today going: the ability to evolve and adapt to the environment around you.
Glad Waterstones are safe, with Boarders shut I'd miss not having any book stores where I can pick up actual books to flick through. Don't get me wrong, Amazon are fantastic and the customer service is also fantastic but having a store to visit where I can find books I'd otherwise not have bothered with, attend evenings with writers doing signings, ask advice on books to read...aside from Foyals in London I can't think of anywhere else to visit. (And please don't even begin to compare to Tescos, Asda and WHSmiths stock- or lack of!)
Am now wondering at TKMaxx- can imagine they'd just bring the brand online. They used to be a really great shop about 10+ years ago.
I can remember a pair of Diesel jeans setting me back £14.99 at the full TKMaxx price (without reductions) now they seem to start at £39.99 at least and its not odd to see them priced at £74.99! I think their prices have gotten too high, the stock is seriously out dated to the point of it being out of any sort of fashion in many cases and other stores nearby quite often seem to better them without much effort. I remember seeing a pair of Nike trainers being sold for £29.99 yet both Footlocker and JDSports nearby had the same pair for £25 and £20 respectivly.
Also wish if they were going to price the beauty and hair care items so highly they'd get in some more well known brands, the US version sells Kerastase, Bumble&Bumble and much more!0 -
TKMaxx has so few bargains these days and it's quite hard rooting through the rails (so disorganised).
You also have to be very careful about the prices, as you can get better prices elsewhere e.g. I saw a lovely Italian garden patio set for £260 and was sorely tempted. Luckily, I came home and checked the internet and the same set was on sale at £180. So it's Buyer Beware for me with TKMaxx.0 -
Hmm our Tj Hughes, is right near to our TK Maxx
Without telling where i liveit's a small shopping square place, with about 20 shops in. So if these two go........ there'll be just internacionale ( for clothes), and i havent been in there in my life
Ooo, and peacocks, forgot about that store :A_Jen_0 -
Wonder if it was anything to do with these 2 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-140419420
