Dorothy Perkins have closed 2 stores in my local area. One in the very busy Town centre and one on a small high street.
bit of a shock. I was a bit gutted I missed the 75% sales plus buy one get one free on everything.
They also closed down Burtons.
d perkins and burtons are owned by arcadia so i cant see them going into administration but more likely under performing stores0 -
Please not Peacocks they are my favourite store
and losing New Look would be bad too. They are the only two shops i shop in

Read somewhere that Waterstones were in trouble a month or so ago, wondering if they'll alter the brand to fix this or are being bought by someone else, know they were having 'issues' with the free magazine and weather or not to continue it after speaking to a member of staff (mag is free for card holders or a few £s if not.)0 -
I hate it when firms go bust... as not only do the shop staff etc lose their jobs, it has a rippling effect ... the people who have lost thier jobs will not be spending their money in shops near to where they work, they might have used small independant businesses, for petrol etc
For every high street/well known business that goes under, there are hundreds of small retailers that go to the wall,
so maybe we should be trying to support local independant clothes shops etc as they have prob put their whole lives on the line, including their homes etc..
I allways try and support Independant and local businesses where i can...
Wish there was the same publicity when small firms/shops go bust, it seems as though that isnt news, and no one cares:oWork to live= not live to work0 -
Yes, I'd agree with that! Phillip Green who owns Arcadia actually was bought in to advise the government not so long ago so doubt they are doing badly! The close stores within the brand every year due to performance levels.

I heard on the grapevine that it may be TK MAXX, my dad's friend's wife works there and she says she thinks it'll be them as sales have hit rock bottom. If it is TK MAXX I'm not really fussed as to the 'loss' to the high street, I have never bought anything in there and to be honest I've only been in there a handful of times.
They have an awful number of stores though so I'd imagine if it did go to the wall there'd be a lot of redundanciesand a knock on effect to its suppliers.
If it wasn't for the mistakes I made in the past (and learned from), I wouldn't be who and where I am today. It doesn't matter if you've cocked up, what matters is that you put it right and apologise. x0 -
