mud baths? wellies? Its what they are made for!
Yes but not for use in the mud bath dancing with other people who they could claim actually damaged the goods and were not faulty. I know i would and force the person to take me to the small claims court to get their money back should i be a retailer.one of the famous 50 -

Still doesn't make sense - a wellie is used for extremely dirty and damp areas and use - dancing in a muddy field is not an extreme environment for the purpose of a wellie - salty sea etc for fishermen is extreme and they survive longer than a few hours...0 -
But how do you expect a retailer to refund a customer if they don't have the goods anymore ? Think i'll call Harrods and say that i have a faulty diamond necklace but i lost it, can i have a refund please ?
If they have a reciept then they can prove a time and date of the purchase - the photos prove the state of them and the image data shows the date the photo was taken.
A timeline, for a reputable company *could* be accepted - I am not saying it *would*, but it *could*.
The OP came here for advise on what to do - they appreciate the situation and the missing item, but they were looking for advice. I have dealt with Joules and Irish before, both of them were very accomodating - there is no harm in asking - Joules didn't say no, they just said speak to the retailer - so like I say, ask Joules if they are willing to confirm a replacement is reasonable (the wellies in Joules must be at LEAST 500% markup on core cost...if it were Joules clothes the suggestion might not be as viable...)0 -

Yes but at festivals you get people constantly standing on your feet and scraping them and such like - exactly not what they are designed for. A bit different to getting a splash of salt water on themone of the famous 50 -
The retailer would probably send the defective pair back to the manufacturer for reimbursement or credit note -- without the item they cannot do this.
Just when you think you've read everything something like this comes along. It absolutely beggars belief that somebody thinks they get something refunded without having to return the product!!! Irrespective on what state they was in!
You shouldn't be given a refund here! Sorry op, but I just can't imagine how you ever thought you could!!0 -

We'll agree to disagree I guess - I base my opinion on my hunter Wellies have done over 6 years worth of festivals in all weathers and they are still perfectly fine...0 -

And id agree with you that most wellies should last but if i was a retailer and got a pair back right after a festival that had just been bought id encourage them to take me to court to prove they were faulty. Only because it would seem that they were pulling a fast one and see what the judge says.one of the famous 50 -
If instead of wellies, we were discussing cars "Hello, BMW? I bought a car from a dealer and the upholstery stitching was coming undone and I'm a bit miffed. I scrapped it - can I have my money back?" it makes the question's answer seem more immediate. Not giving the vendor the option to replace or repair (and hence depriving the manufacturer of the chance to inspect and improve the design) really means they can't help you a whole heap.0

The photos could be of any wellies bought any year. It's definitely not evidence, the only evidence is the actual boots which the OP carelessly scrapped.0 -

The photos prove the state of a pair of boots which could be any pair.
As for the image data showing the date of the photo.
Here's a photo I took a few minutes ago. (well, that what the time and date stamp state)0
