Glastonbury wellie nightmare

Hi all... could anyone give any advice to the following.
My other half purchased from Irish mens wear, a pair of "joules" wellies, which after the first couple of hours of her wearing them at Glastonbury, completely deteriorated. The interior of the wellies (both) had ripped, or the stitching had come undone, causing her to get blisters and suffer a bit of pain in her feet. She purchase (on site) another pair of different wellies and ditched her Irish/joules ones, but not before we took a few pics for evidence.
After getting back yesterday, she spoke to "joules" on the phone, who were very sympathetic towards her, and asked for the pics and a scanned copy of the receipt. After sending the pics via email, joules said they couldn't help and to contact the branch where she purchased them from. So she has contacted the branch of "Irish" who have refused a refund etc as "Joules are funny about refunds without the product".
I know we have to deal with the shop where the goods are purchased from, but giving that they had flatly said no, where does my other half stand??.
Thanks for any help you can throw this way...

She stands in her new wellies. Without the goods how do you expect the shop to approve a refund?I am not a cat (But my friend is)0

It's a shame, isn't it.
Sorry I couldn't help further.0 -
In the first six months it is deemed that the item had an inherent fault. The retailer has a right to inspect the items to see if they failed due to misuse. As you have not given this opportunity, you do not have a right to a refund.0

And seeing how you went to a festival that is well renowned for excessive mud baths Id be suprised if any retailer would do anything even if you still had the boots.one of the famous 50

mud baths? wellies? Its what they are made for!
If Joules say you have to deal with the store and the store says they wont deal with you because Joules are funny about refunds why not call Joules and ask them to contact the retailer to reassure them the refund is acceptable?
Irish carry a big range of Joules, so they must have a pretty good supplier arrangement.
The only reason Joules won't deal direct is because they didn't sell you them.
In saying that...the OH bought a pair of Joules wellies, made in China and worn out within 3 months of daily dog walking....they are not wellies of the quality that befits the brand.0 -
why did she purchase mens wellies for herself ??

But how do you expect a retailer to refund a customer if they don't have the goods anymore ? Think i'll call Harrods and say that i have a faulty diamond necklace but i lost it, can i have a refund please ?0
