Cycle between some of the cities? Better do your research, because if you don't, you could end up seriously dead.

I very rarely use the boards so I've missed the connotations

It's obviously a risk but don't worry, I will do a LOT of research and planning beforehand and will work my way up to it.

Perhaps, I'm not sure. The fish-people I live with have talked about the film, but I've not seen it.

Apart from the other suggestions and apart from the fact you are not prepared, not ready and not up to it, you ask this question on a site where there is a whole section outside the forums about how to get cheapest air travel.
Sorry my posts so long - not time write shorter ones.

    You mention desert.

I take it this means cycling throug a lot of sand.

Apart from the obvious problem, carrying enough water, you will also need to carry (on top of all your food and clothing/camping gear/first aid) spares for your bike, including non obvious ones such as rear freewheel as you dont want sand getting inside and clogging up the ratchet, leaving you without the ability to pedal forwards.

Set your self a few UK challenge's first when you think your up to it, such as lands end to john o groats and then back again straight after, or whilst training the C2C there and then back again straight after finnishing.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that

The MSE Flightchecker was my first port of call, but it doesn't cover Australia and I read the cheap flights article.

The screenscrapers linked to in the cheap flights article seemed to want specific days, plus or minus only a few, rather than letting me search for the cheapest flight over a month or two as I was looking for.

This is the first time I've ever booked flights so I figured I'd just try asking as others would probably have done a similar trip in the past and could be able to offer helpful advice. I cross posted a message on flyertalk as well and someone there suggested Air Asia as well as a number of carriers to check through, so my original question has been resolved now.

To save money, cycle from here to Australia and then use domestic flights to get around when you're there. Saves you the baggage fee for the bike to get it to Aus, too.

That's a Flyertalk thread I'm going to have to subscribe to.
