  • Molly,
Have you asked your insurance company about paying out for this?
    Or why they are not?

It's a dedicated motoring law website, you'll probably get more specialist advice there. HTH.

Well, PM the OP. When I looked this afternoon, they was last on, on the 15th Feb and posted recently. Just PM them and say, come back to the thread, to thank all the people who gave you advice and let them know the outcome.

I'm so sorry I've not been back on and thanks everyone for your interst. I tried pepipoo and got shouted at that it wasn't the right place to post , so I didn't go back and I thought I would be boring to just come on here and say nothing was happening.:o

Anyway the insurance co. have dug their heels in and say they need the original V5 I have sent 3 copies but they say that's not good enough. I even volunteered to get a copy certified by a magistrate friend, but they insist on the original.

I complained and received instant replies via E-mail froma different person , who said I needed to send a copy of original V5 I said I had sent this. To which the original claims handler replied 3 weeks later (she always takes 3/4 weeks to reply) and said no they need the original, no explanation just that.

anyway we have passed copies of all E-mails and letters to a solicitor who is deciding whether or not we will have a claim, they also said don't send the original.

The ins co haven't even accepted the claim yet.

Our on insurance was bought over the internet , so no broker.

We're also still paying finance on the stolen vehicle

Thanks and again apologies for not coming back on thread sooner

Just had E-mail fro the other parties insurance and they say:

Having now reviewed the matter in full and based upon the circumstances of the incident in line with the insurance cover in place for our Insured, it has been confirmed that our Insured is not covered for this incident under the Public Liability section of the policy.

The incident has occurred whilst the vehicle was in the care, custody and control of our Insured, which is in this case is sadly excluded under the Public Liability section of the policy.

As such, we are therefore unable to deal with this matter any further and we would respectfully suggest that you either revert to our Insured directly for compensation of your claim or alternatively to notify your car insurance provider, who will be able to deal with the matter accordingly. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Just waiting for our solicitor now, I don't know why it's taken them this long to realise it's not covered:mad:
