All agreed. However, the OP is going through her own insurers as I understand it, hence the advice.

It's all got a bit confusing but this post:

And subsequent ones suggest it is her insurer holding things up so the ombudsman should be interested no?

    5t.

if her insurers are dealing with it as later more recent posts where the OP suggests they cancelled that policy then yes but as OP has policy was cancelled, and asked about legal cover refuring to getting help withthe situe from the old policy i would say OP is dealing direct with thridparty insurers and as followed above the FOS wont deal.

sorry for confusion it is with third party insurers I thought we might be able to use the legal cover because it was in force at time of theft. Have made an app for nxt wk with solicitor thanks for advice

I didn't know how long a claim can take but the fact they leave it 5/6 wks then ask for more information made me think this wasn't quite right and the insurers are called 'Travellers'
Starting to save £2 coins again, but it is a struggle:rotfl:Not doing very well keep spending them

There is a link there to the Customer Relations team/complaints process. There is a list of directors available, but I am struggling to find direct email addresses. I suggest going this route first if you have not already and someone better than me will probably find a Snr email address quite quickly!

Directors set (or should set) the business operation processes & procedures so whilst emails to them might bear fruit I'd be doing that in parallel to pursuing the legal options rather than instead of.

just had a phonecall from person dealing with the claim and apparantly they want the v5 because IF they accept responsibility that becomes theirs. Also they want the orig purchase receipt/ finance agreement because 'ownership' is in question.

This makes me think they are trying to go the fronting route any advice or should i just wait until we've seen solicitor. thanks

sounds like their going you did something illegal rout.

only becomes theirs when they pay out for it i.e settle liability and give you a cheque NOT BEFORE.

ownership in question? OK you owned car OH has it RK'd who cares it was insured correctly as we previously said to you in previous posts.

photocopy all requested evidence there is no need for them to have originals a photocopy will suffice.

i would seek a solicitor this sounds its going to turn nasty.

Send in photocopies, and request in writing that if they want the original's they will have to "buy" the car at the market value when it was "lost" by them plus your out of pocket expenses and b*ggeration money.

Speak to a solicitor chop chop.

DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY ORIGINALS!!!! I can't stress that enough, I also wouldn't send them the original purchase receipt for the car, that has nothing to do with them. Its irrelevant who bought the car your gran/toyboy/fairy godmother could have bought it for all it matters and she could have paid £5 for the car after winning a hand of poker or 50k because a dealer saw her coming, it has no relevance as they will only pay the market value anyway.

You really need to get advice off a solicitor now.

With regards to the possible fronting, it maybe worth trying to get something off your previous insurers that clearly states who was insured as the main driver, named driver and registered keeper especially if you don't have the old certificates showing all that info.

    TAKE EM TO THE CLEANERS!!!!
