Hi, anyone know if you can use a Jane Norman gift card in the Debenhams concessions? I was just about to use up what's left on mine and now the standalone shop's shut...:(

You won't have any chance using JN giftcard in Debenhams, reason being the tills won't recognise them, only recognise Debenhams own giftcard or the cards that are visa or mastercard (ie the postoffice one and the shopping centre ones)
  • My daughter had a £25 jane norman voucher which she hadn't used - tried to use it yesterday, but were told that in order to redeem it we had to spend double the amount -and it had to be on non-sale items! Have one disappointed birthday -feel a bit cheated, as does my friend who bought the voucher! The sales assistant told me that they were issuing gift vouchers until fri and they have to be redeemed before 31st July

Edinburgh Woollen Mill has agreed to take on 33 Jane Norman stores in a pre-pack administration sale, but 33 shops will be closed and the future of another 28 is undecided.

The Livingston store is staying open. The sales assistant told me it had been bought. They still have a 75% sale on but seem to be getting new stock in.

Stores may be staying open but believe me, I know the person who has bought out Jane Norman (not personally, he bought out the company I work for at the moment) and he is absolutely ruthless.

He almost brought our company to it's knees with debts to creditors and suppliers before quickly pulling his shares in the company and handing it over to a new owner.

He buys out struggling companies and claims to have the intention to build them back up, but once he has built them back up he takes the money and runs leaving the companies in a worse state than they were when he took over. Our company for example was doing ok (just) when he bought it, fast forward 3.5 years to last month and the company is over £7million in debt, luckily our new owners have managed to have big chunks of this written off to stay afloat but was told the previous owners name/reputation is now 'mud'.

It's good that people will be keeping their jobs but I would strongly advise them to get work elsewhere fast as you really don't want to be working for the likes of this 'business man' as it's only a matter of time before things get messy.
