OK, this sounds a bit daft, and it does take a little practice, but the way I do it is to either say out loud, or write it down...."isn't it good that she....."

So, for my people on the bus I say "Isn't it good that they have likeminded people around them to talk to. The benefits of having that sort of company are that they feel that they belong, they don't feel lonely, they are able to contribute......" etc.

It sounds patronising, yes I know, and I don't want to be patronising (really) but when I think of it in this way, why would I want to deprive them of their morning conversation, just because it doesn't appeal to me? There is also a benefit to me, in that because they are talking their inane conversation with each other, they aren't trying to talk to me :D

You can do this in any situation, with ANY person - no matter how it their behaviour is affecting you. BUT it does take practice - however, once you do it, you start to notice a shift in your own attitude towards that person.

So, try being a little "patronising" but with a positive spin......try it with anyone - the slow cashier on the till, the gobby student, the woman who walks down the road wearing leggings that she *really* shouldn't be wearing at her age and at her size......

Like I say, it sounds odd, but I find it works really really well.

And now you probably think I am absolutely bonkers :rotfl:

  • No, I can see how it would work It is good because.......................................well I have list but lets not get into specifics here! She is nice really, honest.

I just want to keep out of work as much as possible, go in do my job and come home (I can hear the laughter of the other teachers reading this but a girl can dream!!) I have been involved in as much crap as I want to this year believe me!

Good luck with keeping out of office politics. I think it is a very hard task

I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
  • Remember what I said about the article I read about different friend at different times of life? Well you are in different places and that friendship is no longer needed. Next time you are "booked" to see her, don't turn up and see if she even remembers to ring to check you are safe. That way you can walk away without feeling guilty!

Also, at school this lady will probably be feeling young and vulnerable, most will probably be older than her, if she goes by the book don't take it personally but try and show her why you want to teach in a certain way, your personality dictates the type of teacher you are. x

Well judging by how badly the end of term went I am seriously going to have to raise my game and so is everyone else. As ever can't go into details, but suffice to say it was horrible and I am VERY glad it is over!

I didn't go to the pub but did an extra shift at tutoring - money always welcome. Mum has been driving me nuts the last week or so. She is getting old basically and that makes it almost impossible to do any thing. :(:( . She won't make any changes to anything,She forgets thing(which is understandable but she gets really annoyed obviously and its SO hard) , doesn't believe me when I say things like soak the shower head over night in vinegar, bought a pizza with chilli in (I hate chilli and it generally makes me ill!)

Today I have my new smaller desk coming, got up to get in the shower, the second she hears me she gets up (I was in the loo) and dives in the shower so now if the man arrives with the furniture it will be oo and I got up early you didn't.

I think I really need the holiday! Cos seriously I could go on.

    :(

(and yes I do know that now I could move out, but its not like it is going to happen right this week! so just let me moan for a bit, you guys are the only ones I can say this stuff to)

    Morning Buffy

    Happy Holiday!

Re Mum: deep breath and try to see the funny side (if at all possible) - it might help keep the blood pressure down.

Sorry things are so crap at work. The break will hopefully give you some time to do what you need to do.

I also see you are working one your masters - well done for sticking to it. As you look back, this will be a year of massive achievements.

Hope you have managed to get showered before the desk is delivered.

  • Ok, rant over I am dressed. I feel terrible all over again cos Mum bought me crossiants which normally I love but I bought a new cereal to try and really wanted to have that. Its stuff like that that causes problems, which I find very hard to deal with. Catholic guilt, I tell you there is nothing worse!!!!!

so my list of things to do today is boardering on the ambitious to say the least.

    1. breakfast
    2. fish tank clean (x6! how did that happen?)
    3. go to morrisions as early as I can to buy garden stuff
    4. go to other high street (the snob in me calls it the poor one!) to buy plastic boxes. (have to do desk see below/garden furniture/boxes in some kind of coordinated way)
    5. drive to a scaryplace on scarey roads to collect new gerbils.
    6. take old desk to charity shop (which involves moving fish tank and thus begins the room rearrange)
    7. move clothes to new plastic boxes
    8. pack up/chuck out school stuff (may have a fire, weather dependent)
    9. put up guinea pig run in conservatory so I can finish the room move round and all that entails.
    10. set up gerbil cage (nearly forgot that am going to have to find the bloody thing first)

DO you know what there is loads more but i am going to leave it at 10, it appeals to the OCD in me and frankly any more and I will be glued to the sofa in fear!!

    Hi Buffy

My list is massive too but I have prioritised a few things that really need doing this weekend.

It's great that you are getting out there with your driving - those scary roads will soon be fun roads that you will enjoy driving.

You are right about the funny side, most of the stuff I want to blow my stack about is so not important, it is just resentment about my sister that I can't express without hurting Mum, rationally I know this but feed me pizza with chilli on and I am woman possessed!

I am strangely excited by the Masters, really looking forward to getting stuck in to it.

lovely to see you Urg xxxx

Maybe you should invite me over for dinner - I always add chilli to my pizza!

    Lovely to see you too.

Look forward to hearing about your summer adventures now that you are debt free.
