I just wonder how you mothers explain to your kids that their teacher is refusing to go into school because they're unhappy about something. I mean, what kind of example does it set for them?

Mine haven't asked. They were just happy to have the day off.

I think it may cause a few problems at my sons school though as the new head has just declared she will not be authorising any holidays from now on as according to her 'just one day off can affect their education!'

no doubt I will get flamed for this but, tbh, they should have a back-up plan for childcare anyway -

I sort of agree actually. For me personally I prefer to not work whilst my kids are young in-case I am needed. It happens that our situation has made that possible. In an ideal world Dad goes out to work, whilst Mum stays home to care for the house and kids. But things are far from ideal these days.

JoJo Sounds like you have made a good choice. Hope things work out for you.

Better get this thread back to flying :o
  • Sorry if I came across as being judgemental, I actually don't have much of an opinion about the strikes, I was just curious as kids see things very black & white.

Yeah, anyway, I need to learn to keep my mouth shut :silenced: :o

Back to flying... headache's starting to fade so I'm off to the kitchen to do some serious washing-up. I'm extremely envious of everyone here who has a DW and a TD. I know you still have to load & unload it but at least it's all hidden out of the way when guests pop in.

I know it's getting late but doing a HHC at 8:30

I suggested to OH earlier we take the children to Sundown at some point in the jollidays.. not my mother has invited herself to 'come help' and my sister has said she will come too with my niece... guess that means noone in our car!!

I just wanted a family day out! Not meaning my ENTIRE family!
