At 8 in the morning on the London Underground there's no room for anyone to come up to you - drunk or sober.0

There are plenty of this type of adverts:
http://www.gumtree.com/p/flats-houses/studio-flat-to-rent-in-hounslow-central/82822722
Brand New Studio Flat available for rent in Hounslow Central, Around 8-10 Mins walk to Hounslow Central Tube Station.
Brand New Kitchen and Toilet & Shower room.
Ideal for working Professional Lady !
Female Only
£600 Including All Bills.
Call for more information on;

Now this looks like a simple sexism and descrimination against men and it looks no different from an advert saying whites ony, justifying that blacks statisticly are more likely to commmit thye crime etc.
My question is, how legal all this and are there any places, I could report them ?
For me the legality would be irrelevant, I'd ignore the ad and just move on to the next property. It's someone else's fault.0 -

I was talking about women-only train carriages in India. Where there certainly isn't gender equality!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Gosh... Equality, diversity and discrimination. It's very much influenced by so called "political correctness".
Equal opportunity only exists on paper, in reality it's ever so slightly impractical, the actual legislation is also very difficult to actually meet.
In the case of the person stipulating no male tenants in their studio, which they themselves are living in as well... as far as I'm concerned they are well within their rights there. Whether or not their agent were within legislation to sanction the advert is another matter.
As with all things like this, it calls for some common sense. I mean.. would you expect a male to walk into their doctors surgery and demand to be given the contraception pill? No you wouldn't, if you did, you'd probably expect the same of tampons or something which would be boarding the ridiculous. In some ways this theory applies to women only areas, generalisations aside it's a well know fact that women are far more likely to feel uncomfortable amongst men in a public place, than men are to feel uncomfortable around women. With this in mind, I don't see women only areas as un-reasonable. By the same token, if a place decides it's wants to be a male only area, then women should have little reason to complain.:www: Progress Report :www:

If the trains packed like a tin of sardines most have no choice & believe me some would gladly love the choice as I personally hate my space invaded!
No assumption, just the bitter and freqent experience of me, my female family members and female friends......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

I think Geordie_bear might have a slight bee in his bonnet in this thread, he may be over doing it, but it's by no means an entirely unfair viewpoint.
He seems to think that women seek equality, and certain standards of treatment by men. To pick a public example... the TV programme Loose Women... the brief moments I might happen upon it whilst crossing channels I've only seen it be very derogatory towards men in all sorts of ways, maybe some of it has a point. But my point is that if there were to be a programme on the other foot "Loose Men" for example... then points of view and off-com would simply inundated every week with furious complaints from women.
Yet, because the example I picked is against men... by women it's viewed of as ok and socially acceptable, I think this is kind of thing Geordie_bear is getting at. If it's not socially acceptable for men to behave in a certain way, then why is it socially acceptable for women to behave in the way that would so outrage them if it were men?:www: Progress Report :www:

Geordie_bear wrote: »Yeah of a packed train? If you're male how are you supposed to position yourself on a train without any female thinking you're trying to contact their anatomy on purpose, it's a packed train for heaven sake. Besides how do you not know that a lesbian lady may not have been doing the same as these men you accuse for the same thrills? Like I say the human race comes in all different shapes & sizes don't tar all men with the same brush!
It is one thing to be squished in with people, it is another when there is someone with an erection subtley rubbing himself on you.0
