I find it odd that there is a sign on the ladies loo at John Lewis saying this toilet may be cleaned by a male attendant when there is not an equivalent sign on the gents.
BTW Who above has the most tragic signature of all time?
    That could be you :rotfl:

So, for example, M & S can advertise a bra-fitter job vacancy, an specify "women only".

How ruthlessly you crush my dreams.

Ok then, how about when employers have so called ethnic awareness days, where women and members of ethnic minorities are given training days to make them aware of what the job consists of?

White males aren't invited to these days.

They call this positive discrimination, but I feel that any discrimination is wrong, and that everyone should be judged on their own merits, regardles of sex, race, religion, sexuality, etc...
exactly right, as far as I'm concerned there's no such thing as 'positive discrimination' all discrimination is a negative. We're all born equal & we all die equal no life is more important then another, we can help ourselves by working hard & we must only be judged on attitude or ablility & never colour of skin, religion or sex!

Can someone tell me also whether 'female only' gyms or 'female only' section of gyms are discriminatory by law too? I'm seeing plenty of these & the authorities seem to turn a blind eye to this, yes there's the argument that there's 'male orientated' gyms also but I've not seen one that says 'men only'. Surely this is against the law right?

I agree with you about PD. I don't know the specifics of the days you talk about, though.

I dont think it is, because its not a public service and its not covered by employment law, its just a product they are selling.

Someone may correct me, but I think its similar to Saga over 50s holidays, or Clubs 18-30.

Perfectly legal, 'private members clubs' are exempt from the Sex Discrimination Act.

I am at a loss to understand the distinction. I understand golf clubs and gentlemen's clubs can no longer exclude ladies and the BOY scouts have to accept girls? http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A4888506

There have been women scouts of the nation too, such as Grace Darling, who risked her life to save a shipwrecked crew; Florence Nightingale, who nursed sick soldiers in the Crimean War; Miss Kingsley, the African explorer; Lady Lugard in Africa and Alaska; and many devoted lady missionaries and nurses in all parts of our Empire. These have shown that women and girls as well as men and boys may well learn scouting when they are young and so be able to do useful work in the world as they grow older.

this is not a case of sexual discrimination but is about "safe" space
in the case of women only gyms they are there to allow women to workout without the fear of having men checking out their Bean bags or in the case of some their dumbbells

It is not illegal to have safe spaces ,

as i explained , a golf club and a Gentlemans Club (strip joint) are not classed as safe spaces and there would be no need for them to be
