Help - Halifax Turned Up Last Night

It is possible cheques (and the card to back them) were used right to the last minute and the bank had no other choice but to confiscate.rog2 wrote:For what it's worth, I think they treted you abominably by turning up, uninvited, to demand the return of their card and cheque book.
You can program an ATM machine to swallow a card, but you can’t do that if the card is used as a cheque guaranty.
We’ll probably never know, whether or not the bank’s dramatic actions were necessary.0 -

The card was suspended approx 2-3 weeks ago when my OD reached a certain level and therefore I couldn't use it even if I tried and I didn't want to as was in too much of a mess anyway and I had 16 cheques left, the last time I used a cheque was approx 5 months ago as didn't need to use cheques regulary when I could use/pay for items using my card. As my card was suspended/stopped it therefore couldn't be used to guarantee cheques.
I also went into my branch last Friday to discuss the situation with the Branch Manager (who by the way was very nice and understanding),( she also stated that the account was now with Head Office Collections so I had to speak to them, she couldn't help me) she swiped my card to get my account details up and then offered me the card back, I stated I had no need for it anymore and she said to keep it just in case you want to pay anything in.
I trust this clarifys matters. If you wanted to know, why didn't you just ask me instead of just upsetting me further by making assumptions.0 -

Also, if they had asked for the card and cheque book I would have given them back willingly.

Have you now spoken with the collections department who may be able to help in some way? or to least acknowledge to them that you are trying to sort something out0

Hi there weller
I just wanted to add my support in here as well
You will get there, dont panic, you sound like a pretty strong lady with all youve had to cope with and you are obviously able to fight back.
You will get there.
Once weve seen your SOA plenty of advice will come showering down, trust me on that one!
Love
lynz xx:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I have got a telephone appointment with them tomorrow to discuss the situation.
I don't know why I bothered asking for advice as for every person who gives support on here there seems to be someone who just wants to upset me and make implications that are not true - sorry, not you regular saver!0 -
