Thank you for reducing me to tears yet again. The reason the OD wasn't included was because my husband was in hospital for nearly a year and me and my children were living off the OD, having to extend it as we did not have enough money to pay mortgage, bills etc and I thought it better to get an OD rather than not pay mortgage, maybe stupidly, but I wanted to keep the roof over our heads.
So again, point proved, you have not posted the entire story, which makes people draw inferences (reasonable or otherwise). I apologise to the extent I upset you - that was certainly not the intention, but you posted half a story, which is how your DMP no doubt felt..... [and you make it clear you knew you were in the wrong....]

Weller - as above, please don't be put off posting on here and getting the help you need.
For some the lightbulb moment is bright and clear - for other they are still in a fog while they're trying to switch it on - it's not always so clear cut for some.
When I contacted the CAB they got annoyed with me as I couldn't stop using my credit cards - despite my explaining to them repeatedly that I was waiting for income support to pay my benefit and had no idea of entitlement. Had I not continued to use my cards (very sparingly I hasten to add) I would've lost my house - it took the IS department 9 months to sort out my entitlement. In the meantime I had not one penny from them and had to call on an almost weekly basis to get it sorted.
Don't feel bad weller, just make sure you get some help as you've been under a lot of strain.

I posted in desperation asking if this was normal - I had every intention of telling the whole story - I was only asking about somebody taking my cards, if i had told the whole story it would have been a very long one and I just wanted advice about that particular problem at that particular time.
I thought the whole idea of this was to help people - not judge, I don't like the implication that I am a liar. I had now where else to turn, now I can't even turn here - thanks very much. I'll keep away now, oh, by the way, do you know what its like to feel suicidial?

Weller - Please do NOT go away - If you do the other poster has, in effect, won. I can only see one poster who has questioned your willingness to tell the truth - yet there are many more who will only be too pleased to try and help.
Don't give up - at the end of the day it is only money that we are talking about - and there IS a solution to ALL monet problems - it just needs talking about.

Thank you, I'll come back later. I promise you I am not a liar, I just need help, I haven't lied on here, I just posted without telling the whole story as I just wanted advice about that particular problem at that time - I just didn't disclose a debt to the CCCS and regret my actions more than you can imagine. Thanks again.

Weller711 - welcome to MSE. Like the others said, please don't be offended by what others say, its so easy to misunderstand what others have written. We're all here to help.
I would advise that in addition to any payment arrangements with any creditors, you do a full SOA with your full financial situation in terms of income, expenditure on everything, debts to be paid etc so you know where you are. You'll feel so much more in control of your finances if you know what is going on and how much you have and where your money is going.
If you do a SOA on here people can suggest ways you could save money and help you further.
I hope it all works out for you.

I did not call you a liar, I asked you to be honest and pointed out that not making full disclosure to the DMP people will have caused you problems (as you know) - it does not help you to make things up that are not in posts.

I genuinely hope you get it sorted, having had to pick up the pieces for people who have been in a worse situation (add in to what you had, looking at a jail sentence as well), I do understand it's not always easy to be focussed and clear, but you need to be open with the people you talk to.

Despite half of this lot thinking I am here to simply dance on their graves, I am not. They just see one side of a story. I am sure you can sort it out.

Hugs Weller711, Im sure ive read on here at some point that someone was thrown off the dmp due to not disclosing a catalogue debt (they thought that they could manage the payment), this person was understandibly upset but the next day they called and spoke to someone else and asked for help - and they got it. Its worth another call isnt it?

I trueyhope that you are able to find some help. Pls keep posting here, its a lifeline for many of us.

    Hugs

  • A bit late now but you could have refused to open the door, taken id/phoned bank to check who they were. I don't have all our creditors on our DMP as some accounts were still being used at the time. Having to live is not a crime. Hope it gets sorted soon.

  • Hi weller
I just wanted to say please come back and through every thing at the people on here. the whole story, if you feel up to it but an SOA. I don't think anyone intended to upset you. I'm sure people will be able to help. I would call the Halifax and check what is happening and that you've handed over the cards etc to the correct person.

In the mean time, open another bank account probably have to get a basic one with no link to the halifax - see the basic bank account thread on budgeting and current accounts. Make sure that any benefits and wages are moved to this ASAP and ask for cheques from anyone you are expecting money from. Book and apt with CAB as some one else suggested that way you will start the new year with a feeling of control and a plan.

I'm sure things are feeling cr*p right now but don't give up and certainly don't do anything silly. If you are that low may be you should speak to your GP.

    Things will get better.
