  • Checked on the Which? utility switch site and, based on the figures I had from previous E.On bills, they recommended switching to E.ON SaveOnline 8. As I've been happy with E.on, I've made the move today. Seems to be the smallest increase we now need to seek, not the biggest saving! That's a move from E.ON FixOnline 8 by the way.

I've just made the same move.

Considering they have been very good over the years I thought I'd stay with them and maybe move to a fixed rate if prices crash through the roof.

Like everyone else mine finished yesterday. Came close to going on EON FIX PRICE 5 at the last minute finally decided on AGE UK PRICE APRIL 13.
  • Just to be different I went with EON FIX PRICE 5 :) . To be honest I think they the same but different. The weathers going to mild hopefully so lower usage and tesco clubcard points.
  • Dear all

please be gentle, it is my firt time in this forum. I am in a dispute with energy supplier, who charge me estimated bills and demand that is hould pay them promtly other wise they will cut my supplies. i wanted to pay them, but can't pay the whole amount (1200) at once. I want to pay 100 pr mmonth. I want also to leave them, but they blocked my transfer. the reason I built a debt is they refused to accept the payments I offered, which was 90 at the begining. they wanted I should pay them estimated bills every month by direct debit and I refused that?

Is there any body who can help me with legislations(ofgems), that can be beneficial for me, so the supplier may take note of this?
Any help will be appriciated as i get threats and even though I tried many times to contribute resolving this, my supplier is just ignoring me and threating me.

I'm still mulling over my options after my FixOnline 8 finished on July 1st, of course that tariff has been so good to us in the last year that any change is at least a 21% increase (variable rate with price increase to come) or 29% to 40% for various lengths of fixed rates.

I was hoping that EON would be releasing a one year online fix of some sort but none so far. All they have is the Fixed Price 5 which is over 2 years and is not an online rate, so a one year online tariff should be cheaper. I would have thought that a new fixed rate would have come out yesterday with the other EON updated plans yesterday, so maybe there isn't one coming out in the short term.

I have narrowed it down to staying with EON with Saveonline 8 (8% less than the EDF Fixed v2 but with at least, I would have thought, a 10% increase in the pipeline), OR changing supplier to EDF Fixed v2 with some cashback through varous web sites.

I am still torn between the 2 tariffs, part of me sees the appeal of the EDF fixed rate with the certainty of the price and not too long a lock in period, but on the other hand I'd like to stay with EON. Also i'm not convinced that energy prices are going to skyrocket further than the increase in the pipeline, which will already reflect the $120+ a barrel oil price of recent months (fallen back to $110 barrel average over recent weeks, as low as $104 this earlier this week).

I can see the EDF Fix v2 and other lower cost fixes (e.g. npower)being 'pulled' soon so I feel that I need to make up my mind soon.

    Choices, choices !!!!!!!!
  • There is an article in todays telegraph - sunday. EDF Fixed 2 is only 2012.
if I recall EDF Fixed 2014 and E.ON Fixed Price 5 ( 2013 ) were both contenders. There is also the AGE UK EON one too.
  • I was also torn but in the end stayed with eon due to customer service alone fixed online 5, must admit though the jump between the two tariffs is sure going to hurt till used to it.

Incidently I put in price checker as if on the edf fixed tarriff to compare with eon right after the edf showing much cheaper than eon and it said then that the only diff was about 50.00 a year which was different to what said when they were all lined up.

Must admit I have to say I found this change stressful adn hope they all sort out their tariffs so easier to sort next time.

Just one for the Eon rep here.

I was on fixed online 8 and have changed to your new fix 5 but have only just submitted my meter readings as of today. I did it over the phone as I was called this morning about my clubcard being attached and have logged in this afternoon and no bill has been generated. I have given my readings again over the internet and forgot to click on generate bill but have emailed them so they can do this which I thought the man this morning had done. He said he would.

Can you just confirm that my bill will be calculated at the old rate still as its only the 4th July (or at least most of it bar 3 days!!). I don't want to be ripped off with being charged all at the new rate.

    Welcome to the forum.

Your query would be better in one of the other threads as this one is about EON's tariff.

    Anyway to answer your query:

If you owe the utility company money, they can -and will - block your switch to another company.

If they allowed people to switch owing a large debt, some people would move from supplier to supplier leaving a trail of debts and then be encouraged to go bankrupt by some on this forum!!

You haven't given full details of your dispute, but if they have based bills on estimated meter readings, you should have corrected them - contacted the firm with correct meter readings.

Was the offer you made of £100 a month on top of the cost of gas/electricity(i.e. to pay off the bill) or to cover bill and debt?

Even at £100 a month it will take a year to pay off your £1200 bill and then you have to pay your bill.

There is no ofgem ruling to help you, you have run up a debt and it is reasonable that the company want it paid back.

They are unlikely to cut you off, but will fit pre-payment meters if you don't come to a satisfactory arrangement with the firm. If you refuse they will get a court order and you will pay the costs.
