E.ON FixOnline 8 Ending 1st July

Hi,
Like a lot of people my E.ON FixOnline 8 is ending 1st July.
I vaguely recall someone mentioning making a meter reading being a good idea on the contract end date. Is that the case? Or as we're all probably moving to a higher cost is it better not to?
Also, obviously, what's the best contract to move to at the moment
Thanks.

Taking meter reads and asking for a bill will obviously bring an accurate end to the plan. Leaving it will be a gamble as to which way the estimated changeover reads fall.0

Hi Hello World 2
As molerat says, for accuracy it's best to let us have meter readings on 1 July 2011 and ask for a bill. You can do this through our website if you like.
Just log into your online account and click on meter readings. Enter the readings and click submit. A balance will appear with the option of requesting a bill.
Hope this is useful Hello World. Let me know if you need any more info as will be happy to help.

To,
EON REP,
please bring some good deal like fixonline 8 back. Everyone includiung me are so happy with EON service, I am feeling very sad to move to other supplier because of the lack of competetive plan available with EON.0 -
Instead of asking for a better price, we need to pro-activley spread the rumour that there is more oil and gas everywhere, so the traders hording energy contracts will dump them. Get E.On to buy lots of cheap futures contracts, to give us a good fix.
Do this every 18 months, and the only ones who lose are blood sucking energy speculators.0 -

Tell me is it fair for you to charge 25p /Kwh (Elec) and 7.5p /Kwh (gas) for the remaining days I am still with you ?
Your 1st Tier rate should be pro rata to be fair.

Unless you've instigated the switch from FOL8 to another supplier - EON have now stopped me inputting meter readings even though I'll still be their customer until beyond the 1st July. Haven't a clue why they should withdraw a function like this prior to FOL8 end date.0 -
E.ON have done the same to me (I'm also moving to EDF),
Puzzling thing is that I just received an email from E.ON requesting me to enter my meter readings!
BTW, Had an almost apologetic phone call from E.ON checking I really did want to move (I think they have to do that to prevent fraud?), absolutely no attempt to persuade me to stay.0 -

The same happened to me with FOL7, although I had entered a reading online at the completion of that tariff and they didn't lock me out until they heard I was leaving a few days later.
Phone in a reading on July 1 and make a note of what the reading was and ideally who you spoke to. When E.On got my final readings from my new supplier, they used estimated ones for the end of FOL7 which were lower than the ones I'd given them. So they were charging me more on their standard tariff they had put me on between the end of FOL7 and my switchover. They did sort it out when I contacted them but I never got an explanation why they used low estimates when they had my actual readings.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Hi travellerboy
Just to confirm, as echoecho says, the first tier (primary) charges are allocated on a pro-rata basis.
Hope this clears this up. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.
