I do this all the time. No liquids though except if bought after security."If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

And you wont go through customs as you're flying out not inLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0

I've seen people being forced to put sandwiches and pasta pots etc in the bin at security at Edinburgh. Think things still in there packaging could be ok e.g crisps, biscuits etc.The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

Really?
We've always taken home-made sandwiches - but we do mainly fly from Gatwick.
What part of, say. a home-made corned beef & beetroot sandwich could be classed as a liquid or gel?0 -
We always take sandwiches on the plane, much better than airline food and we can eat when we want to. Flying to Newark on Continental their CEO says that they always serve meal times at the correct times, yet the main meal is usually served at 10.30, which is not lunch time here, nor in Newark. Obviously it is lunchtime somewhere but nothing to do with our flight! On the way back we usually buy a Pizza at newark and eat that on the plane! Our son once too the two slices we had left to work the next day for his lunch. After heating it up, fellow workers wanted to know where he got it from and were shocked when he said Newark, New Jersey! To Dare is To Do:beer:0

I always take my own food, all airline food is dire - even when it's actually recognisable!.................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

We always take our own food no problem whatsoever at Humberside and Manchester
Drink
I only really like dark rum, usually refill and take 2 or 3 minature bottles through with me, the 5cl sizes they sell on planes. Put them in a clear sealable plastic bag, put them in the tray at security and they go through ok. Security staff usually just smile. Earlier this year at Humberside women on security said I'll have to test this, she took the top off, you could smell it (Woods 100), dipped the tip of something like a large cotton bud in the top, tested in a little bottle, smiled and said have a nice flight. Coming back through Dalaman in Turkey, women (again) said whats this, started to explain, she said OK medicine.
I know you arn't supposed to drink your own alcohol on a plane but at £3 a minature!
This is supposed to be a money saving forumn0 -

I am proud of you Steve. Well done."If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

With the drink, bear in mind that it is not allowed and if you get caught, they will tell you off. (Not too bad then!) I don't know if this happens more than once does anything else happen, but I would just say be discreet and don't do anything silly like the person in front of me who put the minature bottles in the rubbish.
I just take my rubbish with me off the aeroplane.0 -
Hi,
I have never had any difficulties taking my sandwiches through security and onto the flight. They just stay in my hand luggage throughout.
But don't get me onto my water bottle! I do as I am told and empty it before security. But the least they could do is to install drinking fountains airside so I can fill it up again. Some airports do (it seems to be standard practice in Canada), but many do not.
Best wishes
