People used to write to the Sainsbury's magazine and complain about their pricing, the situation hasn't improved but they've stopped publishing complaint letters. Hmm.

It is annoying if you want to find out if a 1kg bag of apples is cheaper than loose apples that are priced individually. I don't care what Sainsbury's say, they do NOT have universal labelling on their fresh produce and it is difficult to compare price per kg.

I can't get excited about the fuss over imperial vs metric measurements. I don't care if we weigh our veg in oojiewotsits, so long as the shops are honest in displaying the weights and prices.

We like empire apples and a bag of 8 apples in Tesco a couple of weeks ago was around £1.85. I looked at price/kilo of loose apples, put 8 in a bag and weighed them, then guessed the price (was about 1.5 kg). At checkout these cost 92p! Half the price cos they weren't in a fancy plastic bag!

I must amit to being a little fussy about comparing prices of veg with the price per item dispalyed. Most of the supermarkets have a set of scales somewhere so you can do the maths or if i am feeling really akward i take both to the till let her scan both and then take off the one i don't want!

She gets mad/upset about having to keep calling the supervisor to void items, but i just smile and tell them if they displayed there prices comparitivly they would not need to be bothered by me.

I don't buy supermarket fruit anymore - I go to the market instead, there's a stall that does bananas 20p a pound, and 20 Granny Smith's for a pound.

At those prices, supermarkets can whistle!

I was going to buy some "Breakaway" bars in Tesco, a few weeks ago. A pack of 12 cost £1.20, a pack of six cost 35p. 2x6=70p, I ended up with 18 for £1.15! When I mentioned it at the checkout, the lady said it was always happening, so check out the smaller packs, bigger doesn't always mean cheaper!

Stick them on the digital ones that are for staff only for when they do the online shopping. As long as you only want the weight and don't faff around with the buttons, you shouldn't have a problem (unless the staff want to use them of course;) ) If those scales aren't accurate, then it's something for trading standards to look into.

    Cunning plan!

I don't think my sainsburies has those - I only have access to a teeny weeny Sainsbury's Central, not a proper one... but I will look!

Otherwise the idea of taking both to the till is evil but good ;)

For anyone who likes Milky Way as their treat :)

In Tesco, the two piece 'adult' version is on the end of aisle chocolate bar stand and costs 35p, but in the sweets aisle there are individual bars (in the kiddie sweets bit) with the packaging marked 'only 16p!' so it's better to get in touch with your inner child (and actually means I eat one (half) at a time instead of both in the pack :)
