Just to add to this interesting thread. I am coming to the end of my current contract and I was also wanting the S2. Well what you want and what you can afford are two different things. Spoke to 3 retentions the other day and thay have cut me a new deal. Free Samsung Galaxy Ace, 500 cross network minuites, 500 texts, 2000 3 to 3 minuites and 1gb of internet for £18 inc vat per month over a 24 month contract. The phone has arrived, but I am waiting for the confirmation letter before I do anything with the phone just in case they try and wriggle out of what they promised me. I trust no one and after reading some of the horror stories on the forum I am being ultra careful. However to be fair to 3, so far their customer services has been good to me. A couple of weeks ago my daughters Sony Ericson went "bonk" after 8 months so took it to our local 3 shop and they sent it back for repair. They couldn't fix it so gave her a new handset no questions asked. The whole family are on 3 and once I have recieved my confirmation letter outlining my new contract that will be me sorted for another 2 years.

they have give you a discount of £4 a month as its £22 a month on thier website.

it look like they will give discounts but on lower spec phones and tarrifs. the ace is a good phone as i got the OH one on contract and she cant keep of it.

Yeah. I had seen the cost on the 3 website of £22 p/m. I know it is only a small discount, but to be fair I was blinded by the spec of the Galaxy S2. Don't get me wrong. I would have loved that phone, but looking at the Ace, it does everything I really need so spending alot of extra money unecesarily would have been a bit of a waste. In any case the Ace is a huge step up from my Nokia E71 which I will give to the OH. She is not fussed about phones. They are mearly a way of calling people and sending the occasional text.

yeah i agree the ace is a very good phone for the price and getting a discount from 3 seems near impossible at the moment (with me any way).

id need alot more mins than 500 so the higher mins = higher monthly price so want a high end phone to go with it.

im still hoping for them to ring me and offer me a good s2 retention:) if not then i dont know what to do, maybe 3rd party?:(
