Morrisons - will they ever go online?

I never forgive them for getting rid of the fresh pizza counter that Safeway had, where they would cook the pizza in a traditional pizza oven if you wanted. Morrisons came along and replaced it with a Pie Counter. They didn't seem to grasp the fact they could tailor their stores to suit different areas of the country, they just took what they did up north and forced it on people down south.
Asda used to do that too - cook a pizza that is.
I am unsure why they don't still do that when they still do chickens.
Surely there is more profit in a bit of flour and toppings than a whole chicken?
Just goes to show how little they pay for their chickens eh?!!0 -

I completely disagree with you there. You are forgetting that a lot of people are a captive market - unable/unwilling to travel far to do their shopping. Over the years Ive been a captive customer of Tesco, Sainsburys and Morrisons. I hate Morrisons and I don't think it's the best, but I have to shop there if I cannot afford to gallivant off to my preferred supermarket everytime. Unfortunately even if I did, there are 3 Morrisons within a 5 mile radius and I have to travel further than that to get to a Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys or etc.
My preferred shop is Waitrose (In a lottery winners' world I would shop there all the time) as the customers are a better quality of people (less rude, don't bump into you without apologising, less of them are vultures (those who deliberately block you out of the reduced items with their trolley/basket/fat selves so they can be greedy and have it all)) and the produce is good quality. Near closing time you can get a loaf of bread for 10p compared to Morrisons pitiful 60p which is barely even half price!
It is annoying that Morrisons aren't online because you can't do price checks on comparable products and do a round of the supermarkets getting all the offers and best deals for what's on your shopping list.
I would like an online shop in a similar style to Ocado, where you could buy all the supermarket own brand items in one place without having to trawl round all of them! I hate paying for delivery but that is one service I would consider paying for them to deliver.0 -
As some of your posters have said, Morrisons will be participating in online shopping. It is part of the plan in purchasing Kiddicare.com. Head office for Kiddicare is in Peterborough, the IT staff (with the online experience) have been retained, and are working to get it up and running.Loving the sunny days!0

Couldn't care less about whether it goes online or not. I would not use the service. I want to choose my own produce, get my own reduced items. I would not want to have to wait in for it to be delivered and I don't want to put my son, who works on the chicken counter, out of work.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

I would like them to go online purely for price comparison help. I fill my virtual basket online with sainsburys each week, then write my list and go the store- this way i know exactly what i'm spending so i don't go over budget, but if any good reduced bargains crop up i can also purchase some of these.
I like morrisons, but as i can compare prices and it's further away than sainsburys i do venture there very often.Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

How would it put him out of work, do you even know how online supermarket shopping works? The product gets picked from the stores not a warehouse, so all the in store staff would remain and they would have to take on additional staff to pick the products from the shelf.0 -

Not always.
My online shopping comes from a warehose/depot.
Having said that, I do agree with you. It is a different operation entirely & will not affect the jobs of those instore.
As you say too, if it happens that your shopping is picked instore..it would actually create additional jobs rather than cause anyone to lose theirs.0 -

Apparently you don't live in this country and therefore "I couldn't care less" about your rants.
Exactly how does this affect your sons prospects as a chicken technician?
As far as I am aware no supermarket online delivers cooked, warm chickens.
I think your son's career is safe.
You wouldn't use the service... because apparently you don't live in this country!!
Did your mother not teach you manners? If you can't say something nice....don't say anything at all!!
Typical angry internet cretin. :eek:0 -

Completely agree about Waitrose, nice clean stores, great food, good staff, a better class of customer...but sadly I can't afford the premium of shopping there regularly.0
