Teachers these days dont give a flying f*ck about the kids and are going to lose what little respect the rest of us have left for them if they continue with these strikes.

I known, I mean remember when teachers, nurses, doctors and lollipop ladies crashed the stock market, wiped out banks, took billions in bonuses and paid no tax?
    No, me neither.

That said, I am NUT and won't be striking. I don't believe in teachers striking. My kids have had too much disruption recently (as is usual this time of the year) as it is.

As an NUT member I will be striking as will my partner in the civil service.

We are looking at paying well over £200 extra per month for pension between us, on top of the few hundred already paid it is something we don't agree with.

My school (secondary) is sending out a letter on Mon to say what year groups will be in and won't be in on Thur.

Can I just add the following to this thread?

I will be on strike on Thursday not to attack children's education - I have three of my own and think education is the most important thing in the world - but to defend it.

Do the general public really think that making teachers pay considerably more for their pensions, work considerably longer (anyone keen to have teachers working until 68???) and receive considerably less is going to encourage high quality applicants to join the profession?

I voted to strike and I will be striking although my school will be closed in any case. I feel it would be immoral to choose to take a day's pay when I am in support of the strike. Unfortunately the last month or two have been very hard for me financially so losing a day's pay will hurt, but it is the right thing for me to do.

Whichever charmless poster described teachers as not caring* about the children (other expressions are available), you couldn't be more wrong.

We do care about the children and about their education beyond everything. That is the reason for this industrial action.

    (Gets off soapbox)

    Cup of tea, anyone?

If you all care so much then why not strike during the summer break? after all you say its not a holiday for you as you have loads of work to catch up on and it wont affect the kids.

Yep, those teachers are always mooning aren't they!?

Do you mean the 'real world' where all the employees rolled over, didn't strike and allowed their employers to shaft them over pensions...

...and are now so bitter about it that they hate anybody with a bit of backbone who stands up for theirs?
