We had an NSD yesterday, but a couple of spends to add today totalling £8.42. Annoyingly, we were too late for fruit and veg reductions, but the haul included more half-price pulses for the stash [which, tbh, is already far too big a stash, but I can't seem to stop myself as it's feeling so Autumnal] and some tubs of 10p marge - our local Mr T is clearing out loads of close-to-date Kosher margarine with the unappetising brand name Adiet - it's actually very nice and melts nicely on hot bread/toast [unusual for an apparently vegan-friendly spread
].
So I'm nabbing as many tubs as I can to crowbar into the corners of the freezer... the freezer that I'm supposed to be clearing down to leave a drawer free for the new housemate who's due to move in in a couple of weeks... oh dear.
Probably just as well that there's less than £20 of budget until the end of the month - and it also makes it a good time to consider whether I can bring myself to set aside my control freakery and hand over grocery shopping duties to Him Indoors next month. If I write a clear list, he can and will usually stick to it; me, not so much. So we'd probably do better at sticking to budget [which I intend to reduce again next month].
Also, obviously, we have to put a dent in the freezer contents to give the poor new girl a fair chance. I nominate anything bready - ie cheap and bulky - for the first attack! :rotfl:
Sorry for the ramble!Haven't done the GC since February, but a glance at the Tower of Receipts tells me I really need to get back into it... and plenty of other Challenges besides.0 -
I think i'm going to declare at €295 for this month - higher than I'd hoped but still reasonable. I know I'll have to get milk and creme fraiche tomorrow, but otherwise I shouldn't need any more before the end of the month. This weekend, I spent €20 at the F&V shop, and €5 in Lidl on bread, grapes and croissants.
Can you please put me down for €800 for September Pink Winged? I have to attend a conference very close to the border on Thursday, so I intend making a foray to Sains for a very large stocking up shop (I do this maybe 2-3 times per year, on average, but I haven't done one since July '10 so I want to get a lot of basics and cheaper stuff, and also a few things that I can't find easily down here like tinned crab and various types of jarred sauces, and alcohol for going past Christmas, and things like gin for sloe gin and olive oil for flavoured oils for presents). That will mean a very large spend this week, but hopefully back to almost nothing for the rest of the month, just fresh stuff.GC 2010 €6,000/ €5,897

Was persuaded by DD2 to "pop" into local Mr S as she wanted a drink of pop - and ended up spending extra £10.68  on carp- but in fairness it included a bag of spuds which did part of two meals for 4 of us so no waste there unlike usual where spuds left start sprouting.
Oh and it included a bottle of white wine - that was definately not wasted either:o
But I did manage to get back into baking this aft as we had visitors - a dozen apple muffins, plain scones and a huge cheese and tom quiche made with freebie toms from my Dads greenhouse and a lonely piece of cheddar. Just a couple of above left now.
Friend said I was a "domestic Goddess" these days - she looked stunned when I said I did it because I had to,to keep costs down.:rotfl:She thought I did it just to impress people when they came round!Crazy Clothes Challenge 2012 £57.20/£100,CCC 2013 £68.67/£100 ,CCC 2014 £94.32/£100

I can't declare for August yet as I'll need to do a little shop tomo and am still working off the August budget. I will only spend £30-ish tomo though so will come in under budget :T
Can i be put down for £160 for September please*** PROPHECY_GRRL****** DEBT FREE AS OF 17/10/11 - I DID IT!!! ***0 -
I think my report card for August is "could do better", never mind, will try again for Sept
So Aug spend totalled £359.51 against a planned spend of £250. We had a couple of unplanned for purchases from the chemist and I've done a fair bit of store cupboard shopping, but not enough to justify being over £100 over budget. I will be paying much more attention to this in Sept
Please can you put me down for £250 again for Sept. My new month will start on 1st but I don't think I need to buy anything before then.
Thanks
PP
