Hi all,
I,ve had a productive day today :T
2 kilo,s of mince in slow cooker, will split it later and make 1 half into Shepards Pie base, the other half into chilli - all for the freezer for lazy meals in september.
Also split 3 kilo,s of brisket into 3 joints, along with 3 veg packs (diced potato, carrots onion, mixed with garlic, oxo, mushrooms and bay leaves) to bung in the slow cooker with brisket - again sat in freezer.
In another slow cooker I am cooking Lamb tagine half for dinner tonight, half for freezer.
I have spent £52 from Sept budget will post that on my new Sept signature.
I have to be careful early in September, as towards the end of the month, I have 2 house guests staying for. Week (they only eat fish n veg) so will have to plan for their needs:)
I have prawns, trout, crab, mackeral in the freezer , so it will be an excuse to use that up and will do a thai veg curry and no doubt will eat out at least one night, so fingers crossed will not go over budget :oAGAIN:oNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!
£300/£1300 -
Thanks for the tips re the 'vegi food' will def be checking out that link Rosieben thanks :T
I am not intending on going completely vegi, will still be eating fish and a small amount of meat + I love beans and pulses so will use those instead of meat content where possible..
Rotten weather here today, typical August bank holiday though I guess! hope everyone is having a good weekend xStarting with Avon C6 target sales £150.000 -
£9.00 spent today on food at 2 carboots.
Got a dozen eggs for £1.60 and then from a butchers van (which is really nice meat) I split an offer of 3 packs of sausages for £10 with my dad, so for £5 I got around 24 sausages - mixed flavours of pork and leek, cumberland and chilli and garlic. Yum!
Then I found a stall which sell lovely homemade bread (I know I should make it myself, but this is the next best thing :P) I got a loaf of cheese and chilli bread for £2.40.
That lot should keep me going for a while. So much for trying to empty my freezer!Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

Well, declaring at £450.74 against my budget of £450 for August. I am really pleased although in all honesty this was only actually possible because there literally wasn't any more money to be had from the bank account! Even the overdraft was up to its limit! I did also find the last few days a bit hard & find it really annoying when I realised I had no essential things like potatoes when I fancied shepherds pie for dinner! Still at only 74 pence over I am going to declare this month a definite success! Have already spent since Friday which was pay day but will post that in September's challenge. September nearly,
Sorry, meant to add, Mrs McC could you put me down for £450 again for September please?Grocery aim £450pm.Spent £519 August, £584 July, £544 June, £541 May, £549 April, £517 March, £517 Feb,£555 Jan, £573 Dec, £465Nov, £561Oct, £493Sept, £426Aug,£496 Jul, £528Jun, £506May,£498April, £558 March, £500Feb, £500 Jan, £490 Dec, £555 Nov,£566 Oct, £505Sept, £450Aug, £410 July, £437 June, £491 May, £471 April, £440 March, £552Feb, £462Jan0 -

hi, i have blown the budget but learnt some lessons. My total is 64.04/60.00. Weds, we had a 2 pound takeaway and bought bananas. Today, had to go to Mr M, whoopsie vegs were 9p each, so bought cabbage, mushrooms, beans, brussel sprouts, bananas and swede. Also found quality beef previously 25.00 a kg and 10.00 a kg and ox heart for OH. Also bought muller yoghurts at 10p each in wilko. Popped into Hackney Mr T and found stir fry packs at 38p each. I would like to be included in september challenge.
I'm sticking to 60 pound a month. i know i can hit it next time, i'm just loving the good food but still have plenty in cupboards though.grocery challenge 9.86/600 -
went to Mr S earlier I've failed!!!!
£26.04 over budget so far and still a few days left0 -
Ohhhh dear, another £37 to add at Mr T....
Declaring now as won't be going near a supermarket / have bits for lunches etc for the whole of next week.
£231 / £175
Way over, but it's my first attempt and I reckon that at least £80 (probably nearer £100 if I added up all the meat that's now in the freezer!) of that has gone into winter/post op stores so I'm not too unhappy.
Please could I be put down for £175 again in September Mrs M - I have most of my winter/post op stores now (feeling a lot happier- only 2 weeks until op), so hopefully I can do it this time!:D
