Welcome JackieRHE Well done for joining :T You'll soon figure out what is your normal spend, but just remember we all count different things in our budget so try not to compare with other people in your situation.

I've done my big shop for the month which at £45.03 is over half my budget.

But I'm not worried. I did indulge in 6 tapas dishes for £10 from T3sco. Just had king prawns in a chilli butter & veggie paella and it was worth it! I'm working on defrosting the freezer this week so it'll be a week of interesting dinners!!
My name is CherryPie and I'm addicted to grocery shopping!!

I wonder are these like our "fly cemetery cakes" 2 pieces of pastry with a condensed version of mincemeat in the middle.

Yes! Except I use finely chopped raisins, spread on some butter and sprinkle on some sugar sandwiched between pastry, brush with butter and sprinkled with sugar. Chop into small rectangles.

Hi all, I love this time of the month as there is so much activity and 2 threads to read :D

Have updated sig and it has shocked me that I have spent nearly £100 since Friday  That is £17 on a KFC for us all, My cost towards a family barbecue birthday celebration and then £37 in A$da and £23 odd in A?di... Was really pleased with my aldi stuff today and could probably have done the whole shop there but had promised dd's that I would pick up a dvd for them in Asda, gawd knows how I spent so much in there! although I am having to get the kids lunch stuff which I don't usually..

also, please whoever kindly updates the GC figures, could you please change me from £300 to £360.00 for August as I am allowing more for the lunch stuff...sorry if I posted it wrong initially...

off to work out my percentage spends/month gone (If I can get my brain to work) and to catch up on all the posts x

I totally lost the plot half way through July :o

Its a new grocery month tomorrow so just drawing a line under it. No idea if I overspent as I just stopped counting. Could you put me down for £300 in August - thats for 2 adults, 3 kids, various pets, household & cleaning stuffs and allows for our week away near the end of aug (Bed, breakfast and dinner already paid up). Hoping to get everyone to eat a big breakfast and avoid buying lunches :D

Well, I need to readjust my budgeting as OH and I have separated (amicably) and now there's just me and the dog to cater for.
I'm not sure how much to allow really - I know the dog stuff costs about £5 a week and I need to think about all food, toiletries, laundry and cleaning stuff for me.

I'm guessing about £25 a week will be ok plus £5 for the dog making a total of £30 a week.

I don't really need much this week just some extra dog food, fruit, beans, squash, peas and milk so I'm hoping that £10-15 will do it? Who knows!

I'm off to meal plan for the week to get me to Saturday spending as little as possible.

Can I be put down for £30 a week please?

After overspending by about £80 in July  TheBees are back on track and ready to face the new August challenge. We've upped our budget to £400 due to the general increase in food prices but as it's the school holidays we may save some money as we're not having to make packed lunches every day. We'll see.....

Today I watered the school vegetable garden and picked about 10 courgettes and a pound of tomatoes. Tonight I've made my first ever tomato sauce for pasta by simmering the tomatoes with garlic, sugar, white wine vinegar, basil and water following a recipe from the 2nd Dinner Lady cookbook. We'll have that later in the week with sausages and pasta....

    Anyway - good luck everyone.

  • Could I join in please :D

I'd like to aim for £220 for August please. This is for 2 adults and 6 guinea pigs and includes all food, toiletries and fresh food for the piggies. I'm aiming to be able to drop this to £200 for September so I'm hoping to get as close to £200 as possible this month. Though I've already spent £25 on alcohol alone :o Had an order delivered from Mr T tonight. Don't tend to shop online much anymore but got sent a £10 off if I spent £50 voucher so thought I may as well. So that came to £45.14 bringing total spends of the month so far to £70.14

I don't even have much in either as for the last week we've been eating out of the freezer so I already think August is going to be a tough month :(
Going to get to grips with food shopping again, starting February!

Got married to my lovely hubby on 12/11/2011 :D
