    Hi All,

Had to pop to Mr T's yesterday as although my food shopping was being delivered, I had ordered some toys from the direct bit in end of season sale (Xmas presents).

Whilst I was there I picked up a plastic box to put DS's growing amount of Lego in, milk as I forgot it on the online shop and a sandwich box to go into DS's packed lunch box at school. I don't have the receipt to hand but think it was about £6.76 from memory.

These are the bits I need to cut out though as these are what end up pushing me over budget all the time.

I haven't been keeping track this week and have binned my receipts :o I have worked out that i've spent £4.12 since my last post.

50p on a lettuce at Lidl mid week.
£1.00 on a bag of crisps at Tesco.
£2.62 in Lidl yesterday on pork steaks, peppers and a packet of rice.

I think that's it anyway. Will need some bits tomorrow so will make sure I hang on to the receipts.

  • After a hectic couple of months and some massive overspending on all budgets , please can I rejoin the challenge ? I need to sort myself out before xmas arrives .
August is nearly over and I have spend a lot more than intended on food , partly because of laziness and partly because we have strayed from the Vegan diet . We were both piling on weight and so now have joined weight watchers and have started eating meat again for some meals but I am still avoiding dairy as I found it upsets my system :( - pity as I love cheese :o

Please put me down for £300 for September once the thread is open for business

    Evening all :o

£9.80 spend this morning in MrT: whoopsie bread x2 & whoopsie bananas, large milk, dishwasher tabs & dog treats. Doesn't seem like much for that amount of money. Can't believe it would have been more if some of it wasn't whoopsie!

Otherwise a relatively good day for spends, sunday lunch out (treated by MIL), a few drinks in this evening with OH family (already had plenty of alcohol in). £2.80 spent on snacks, and another £2.50 as contribution to a takeaway order. Seems like a lot on junk but compared to a night out, pretty good going :rotfl:

Time to go update sig :D xx

Bust the budget again :(. I'm not quite sure how this is happening since I moved, I can't be spending that much more just because the local shops are a bit more expensive than I had before. They can't be that much more expensive!

Added to this, I now meal plan a month at a time because of shopping monthly (believe me, if I went back to weekly I'd be spending even more, stupid local shops!), so if I see I'm spending a bit more than I should one week I can't really adjust the next week to bring it back under control. I'm finding I just plan a month and then end up watching what the spends do rather than actively controlling/managing them.

Does anyone else shop monthly with top-ups, can you give me any tips of how I can control it if I notice in say week 3 of the month that my spending is getting a bit high?

ETA the bonkers part is that my overall spending (accounting for different rent, travel costs etc) actually seems LOWER than before! Somehow I now spend all my money on food!

At least it looks like next month I don't need as much as usual, hopefully it will balance out what happened this month!

CofC, I shop monthly and top up as little as possible from our overpriced local shop, plus I do an occasional shop at MrM in the next town.

I have a monthly meal plan but I keep it flexible so I can change it to use up anything I'm given (lots of fresh veg at the moment) or any too-good-to-miss special offers I might see during the month
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

  • Good morning everyone,

spent £13 in L**L yesterday but did seem to get a lot for my money.

Having M£S sirloin steak, green beans and roast potatoes tonight for dinner. Sirloin was whoopsied so would have been rude not to take advantage of offer. Beans and pots from brother's allotment.

Hope everyone has a frugal day.

I have managed to have two no spends days. By default. I was not well on Saturday/Sunday so I asked BF to pick up bread and the wine on his way over. When I offered to give him the money he said I didnt need to. So bonus.
I am aiming to only spend £10 maximum this week. We are due on Holiday in 8 days. So I want to save as much as I possibly can. We have enough meat still, and there are frozen veg. But we do need fruit and milk etc. Nothing for DGD to have in her packup at the moment. Will need to bake.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.
