I had to buy milk because a pesty child gave most of ours to the dog. I now have £5.22 left in the envelope to last until 31st.

I can do it. I have to

Evening all, will b awol from tomorrow util wednesday, spent about £2 today (oh spent it so not certainof amount) on a packet of greggs buns for our picnic tomorrow and 2 pints of milk. When we come home on wednesday will need to do some food shopping but hoping on only buying bread and milk to see us through to the weekend when I will have to stock up on fresh salad, veg and stuff for packed lunches. Still hoping I can come under budget this month.

  • Morning all.

Did Mr M's on Friday when I took my Dad shopping and spent £34.93,more than normal but it included the usual loo rolls, washing up liquid, bin bags - why do they always run out at the same time?

Oh and nearly forgot also nipped into the localshop on Friday lunchtime as DD2 came for lunch and I had no cheese at that point (before the dreaded Mr M trip) so bought that and some nice bread buns and crisps so that was an extra £4.29 - but it fed 5 of us so not that bad.

But best bargain I got this week ,although not completely food as such but the book......

"Fish pies and french fries, vegetables, meat and something sweet.....affordable everyday food and family-friendly recipes made easy(for busy people with a lot on their plate)" by Gill Holcombe.

it should have been £9.99 down to 99p in "The W***ks":T

I bought her first book(and I thought that was a bargain at the time at a fiver!) and really enjoyed reading the recipes - now I just have got to get myself together and go and actually make some!

    Catch you all later

    my update is 2.50 mr T. 3.15 wilko and 1.50 Mr M.

my total is 56.22/60.00. Even though i'm nearly spent out, cupboards are overflowing and haven't hardly touched the wine. Wilko was my favourite today, I bought 10 different mullers, 10p each. Also bought small packs of sushi at 10p each. The main reason i've spent my budget is that i can't resist a bargain. Maybe next month i'll try to clear out.

Just done my last shop for August and spent some time adding up all that i've spent at various supermarkets.

Target was £300 but have spent £314.93. So, over budget unfortunately but this amount did include cleaning products etc. Compared to my £500.00 a month not so long ago I suppose it's not too bad.

I have converted a lot to value brands and what an amazing difference. My family have not complained either so will continue from now on. I've been introducing own brand cereals and so far so good.
  • Disappointed with my NSD's this week, seem to be going in for "bits" every day. I bought the River Cottage Preserves book with a voucher I had for my birthday, so this week i've been buying the basics of what is needed for the recipes, sugar, vinegar etc. Today OH and I went blackberry picking, OH wasn't too keen, but when I told him how much a little punnet of blackberies costs in the shops, he started picking for billio lol. We've ended up with nearly a kilo of blackberries, so hoping to make blackbery and apple jelly, and blackberry and apple fruit leathers.
Have a good week everyone x
