Can everyone please refrain from posting about the OP and the main topic so that we can have the meat and veg of the apples/foxy/ILW disagreement come to conclusion?

I bank with the Hsbc and they are a nightmare at pushing credit cards, overdrafts, pensions, etc etc onto me everytime i set foot in one of there branches, i have reasonable savings and they try there hardest to get me to 'invest' with them.
I can understand how the op was persuaded to accept the £25000 loan, but he really does need to just say no thanks next time....
I also have 2 teenage boys and am dreading them getting to an age where they are responsible for their own financial dealings, the banks and moneylenders will see them coming a mile off......

Jess, then you need to start educating them now.

You can also request "no marketing" to reduce the unwanted crap getting pushed onto you and/or your kids.

Thanks, i am trying but my boys seem to have inherited my ex husbands financial sense, i just know if they are offered a loan, they'll take it without even thinking how they pay it back, interest rates etc.....i'll check out the no marketing option on my account thank you...
