Oh yes the ever increasing CC and OD limit. Anyone ever call the CC company and say "I don't want the extra £1200 credit you just put on my card", what did they say?
Mrs o4u made just such a call last week.

They said, "That's fine Mrs 04u, your limit is back to what it was".
  • actually i am one of those people who did object to having my credit limit (massively) increased on my credit card, i text the number to say no i wanted to keep the card at the current amount, bet they were shocked!!!

Why would they be in any way shocked?

They provide you with the option to opt out.

The people who are employed to respond to that request are working on that sort of thing all the time.

I don't understand why you would expect them to have any sort of significant emotional reaction to it.

Yes, I have. A huge unwanted extension of my credit limit appeared on my statement one month. I 'phoned them and had it taken back to what it was. No probs........ They didn't say anything, as I recall.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

do you have to be so blunt with your response?
i was merely saying that most people would have taken the higher credit offer, as did a forum member above , i dont really understand posters like you who seem to have a chip on their shoulder.

can someone tell me what the difference is between a "Responsible Lender" and a "Lender" is?

Perhaps I can help - it's very much the same as the difference between a "Responsible Borrower" and a "Borrower" is.

So most people would have accepted the offer of a loan from their bank for £25,000? Are you crazy? At least that's what I'd have said to the bank employee who made me such an offer. Why would I want to borrow £25k unless I had a specific reason to want £25k in the first place?

Personally I was impressed by the MSEr who on one thread likened credit to a hotel mini bar. Yes it's there, and the hotel put it there, but it's down to you to pay the bill if you consume the contents.

I prefer being direct on this sort of forum. It helps to get to the point faster which means readers don't have to work through paragraphs of meaningless drivel.

I didn't think I was being particularly "blunt" in this case though. Just suggesting that the card issuer has no particular feelings one way or the other about a decision to opt out of a limit increase.

Take it whichever way you will. I don't have a chip on my shoulder, and those who know me offline will confirm this. I simply prefer to deal in facts in this kind of environment.

The image you portrayed of "shock" amongst staff or management simply isn't real.

Apologies for offending you. That wasn't intended.

It is not optional, there is a clause that says "this cheque MUST be used by XX/XX/XXXX" Cannot argue with that.

That doesn't mean the money disappears! It means the cheque needs replacing.
Some people are wierd when it comes to money, as the OP demonstrates.
