I've learnt a lesson to check my shop settings!

Approx two weeks ago I received an email (not ebay message) from a buyer begging me to sell to her but saying she'd been blocked by my shop settings as she has two unpaid item strikes. I ignored the email. Then last week a letter came from her in the post (being a business seller my address details are in the listings), begging me yet again and I almost felt sorry for her but didnt act on it. Then on Monday out of the blue, she bought the item in question from me via my ebay shop. On checking, I discovered i'd only got the restriction set to block such buyers with unpaid strikes obtained within the last month, i've now made it the last 12 months.

Anyway, she's still not paid and I sent her a polite gentle reminder last night. Here's her reply to me (I've copied and pasted it, it's her use of capitals not mine).

'IS IT T H A T DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND THAT I HAVE NO INTENTION TO CHEAT AND THAT I'LL PAY YOU TOMORROW? YOU CAN SENT AS MANY MESSAGES TO EBAY AS YOU WISH,THE ONLY ANSWER THAT YOU'LL GET IS MY 100% POSITIVE FEEDBACK.FOR GOD'S SAKE,I'VE NEVER MET SUCH AN IMPOLITE AND GRUMBY PERSON IN EBAY AND HOPE I'LL NEVER WILL!!! YOU ARE A DISGRACE FOR EBAYS SELLERS WHO WAIT UNTIL SENEN DAYS AFTER PURCHASE TO BE PAYED.IF YOU WANT TO CANCEL THE PURCHASE,PLEASE DO THAT AS YOU ARE A BIG PAIN IN THE !!! FOR ME AND OF COURSE THIS WILL BE REFLECTED ON THE FEEDBACK I'LL LEAVE YOU.HEAVEN'S SAKE,YOU MUST BE NUTS!'

Dear buyer.
100% feedback as a buyer is worthless and has been for over a year since Ebay removed the ability for sellers to leave negative feedback for buyers for any reason. All buyers now have 100% positive feedback no matter how bad they are making the whole thing a farce. For a seller, a buyers feedback is now completely and utterly worthless and you may as well be zero rated for all the worth that an Ebayers feedback as a buyer is worth. Therefore it is no use bleating on about your 100% positive feedback because those sellers you have messed about like me cannot leave negative feedback.

Ebay requires you to pay in a reasonable time and 2 weeks is not it. It is not my fault you regularly bid on things you cannot afford to pay for. I am therefore filing a non-paying bidder complaint against you, adding you to my blocked bidder list and cancelling the transaction.

Thanks for your reply hammyman. I'd love to cancel the transaction as I'm sure if she does pay, i'll suffer over the feedback but my understanding is that I cant do it without her agreement and even then she can still leave neg. I'm just hoping she doesnt pay which will disable her ablilty to leave feedback and give her another strike.

I'm kicking myself for not setting the period in my restrictions for longer. I think I though if someone tried and couldnt buy, that they'd give up, not try again in a couple of weeks. Yet, another learning curve.

i think thats a very reasonable reply fromyourself. Myself probably would not be so self controlled when writing.

You can open a NPB after 4 days & close it after 4, if you have it set to automatically open after 4 the buyer can't leave FB unless they pay.

Yes my shop is set to open NPB dispute after 4 days, it will open tomorrow as she purchased on Monday. I'm just hoping she doesnt pay. She was so desperate to buy but hasnt paid yet and the way she responded to a gentle reminder, makes me think she's a headcase.

If she does pay I cant even cover myself by tracking the parcel (in case she says she'd not received it), as she's in Greece.

Do you have to pay to blocked NPBs or was that the case before (it's been a while since I used eBay...)? Guess you can wait until tomorrow to see if she does pay. Chances are any replies might cause her to do just that so perhaps hold fire until the four days are up?

Hopefully the daft cow won't pay & she'll get another strike.

I've blocked her personally now, as well as tightening up my shop restrictions - no you dont have to pay to do it. Even when the dispute is open tomorrow she'll still get another 4 days to pay and she could well do so, especially if she's worried about getting any more strikes. I'm just praying she doesnt pay, as I fear her feedback.

Some buyers never fail to surprise me, even after being a business seller for 8 years, I'm still coming up against new experiences. The two page letter she sent me about badly needing my item and her being an honest person, was a new one on me. It was the 'God bless you' she put at the end that almost got me.

It's a lesson in psychology. Have any sellers left her false negs? Or has she bought lots of things & not received FB?

I looked at her feedback and she's bought several items similar to what she wants from me and has glowing feedback for them, I cant see any false negs. I also looked at what she left for others and that was glowing too. Can I tell if she's bought and not had feedback for other items, I'm not familiar with a search which would show this?

The differences between her grovelling original email & letter and this latest email are huge, she seems to have a split personality.
