That is fantastic. I didn't join until 30/8/11 and have collected about £18. I am becoming obsessed with putting money in the pot. How did you manage to collect that amount? If I could collect a few hundred for the year I would be made up but nearly £800 by Sept I would be ecstatic.:T:T
Any hints and tips would be most welcome as I am a Newbie;);)
Love this site and everyone is so friendly and helpful.

Hiya
I put all the change in my purse in the pot at the end of each day. Sometimes it is 1p, sometime it is £5.
Every penny counts though. each 1p is 1p more than was there yesterdayHowever much is in your pot by the end of September will be a bonus.
Good luck, and keep on saving

Thanks Melgirl and Sparky for your very useful tips..... I may copy a few of them!
I feel that since I have joined the site I am becoming more organised with my life in general. I am starting to keep on top of the washing and ironing for a start ( with 5 in the house there is always a lot).
One thing that I have noticed since I have made my 13 yr old DD do her own ironing for pocket money, the washing on her part has decreased dramatically!!!:D
I seem to be a bit more forward thinking re birthdays and Christmas!
Even going back to work after 6 weeks off, all my folders and resources are more organised lol.
Thanks again everyone. :rotfl:[SIZE=2]SPC4 #1395 Aug 11 £135.75/£150

Afternoon everyone, I hope you're havng a great day and that you'll have a relaxing or fun evening.
Hiya sparky, good to see you, actually I've seen your name more this week than for months!!! Not a bad thing though, honest.
Woooohaaaaay Mel, that is absolutely terrific!!!!!! :T:T:j:T:T I've still not weighed my pot yet, I'm darn well going to now!!!!mumof3plusoh wrote: »Any hints and tips would be most welcome as I am a Newbie;);)
Good for you, debtfreeby30, you're well on your way to catching up with your name! :j
I'm sure you're doing fine already, mumof3plusoh, but the best way to save is to put every bit of change into your pot, then try to save on as much as is possible. Also, where it's possible downgrade on brands etc and every little bit you pay less - for pop in the pot. If you're in a position where you can walk to town, a friends or anywhere similar instead of taking a bus - the savings goes in the pot!! If you buy a cake/drink when you go shopping - DON'T - but save the cash you'd have spent! Anything similar. Budget as much as you possibly can....the more you buget....the more you SAVE and the savings just grow and growsuntil you too become like Mel and sparky and hundreds of others of us. Throw yourself into it...then come back and let us know of any ways we too can save!!!Anything's possible IF we put our minds to it...all the best with your pot mumof3plusoh and £18 so far since August is brilliant!!
A great start, Betsie! You're on your wy now. Good for you with the walk and NSD!!!!
It's amazing how we change our thinking eh, Saving the family....., and it's the pence that very soon make POUNDS!!!!
Very good indeed, Kerry! The working must be worth it then!
£1.26 for the pot and how heavy it is now, must weigh it, though I know it won't be like Mel's, but it'll still be good for me.
Have a suer evening folks and a GREAT day tomorrow, but beware of the gales PLEASE!
Sue x

Well it certainly was a NSD. Managed the 6 mile walk up and down the South Downs, then slipped and twisted my ankle. Spent the next 5 hours in a & e while they x rayed. Home now with a very bad sprain and torn ligament.....but looking on the bright side, didn't go into town and spend any money!
